Suffolk University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Research Analyst in our Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA). The Research Analyst will join a highly collaborative and supportive OIRA team working under the supervision of the Associate Provost of Academic Affairs. Broadly, this position will provide institutional support in enabling data-driven and strategic decision making; focus on responding to internal and external data requests including rankings and guidebooks; liaison with academic programs and departments to support on-going program review; support survey tool management, data accessibility and dissemination efforts, and help improve data efficiency within OIRA. The position requires someone who is detail-oriented, help manage programmatic reviews, serve on institutional committees, and to help manage and innovate institutional data requests. The analyst will work collaboratively with the OIRA team and university leadership to leverage data visualizations to aid and inform strategic initiatives as well as in the evaluation of such efforts.

Primary/Principal Responsibilities:

Institutional Support in Enabling Data Driven, Strategic Decision Making

• Committee Work – serve as a representative for the OIRA across institutional committees
• Program Reviews – liaise with the Provost, Deans, and program chairs to provide requested information for yearly program reviews
• Learning Outcomes Assessments – work with academic colleagues to assess student learning outcomes
• Strategic Plan Visualizations – update strategic plan Tableau dashboards

Responding to Internal and External Data Requests

• Weekly Reporting – coordinate and disseminate weekly admissions, enrollment, and re-registration reports
• External Surveys – manage a suite of yearly internal and external surveys
• Support Qualtrics and survey management including course evaluations
• Ad Hoc – respond to ad hoc data requests, as necessary, and support the OIRA team in proofing requests compiled by the OIRA team – help ensure data requests are accurate and provided in a timely manner to internal and external partners

Data Accessibility and Dissemination

• Presentation Ready Data – maintain data that can be easily used in presentations
• Proactive Dissemination of Institutional Data – develop and implement a plan to provide strategic updates on institutional data collection (for example, NSSE data)
• Tableau Visualizations of Common Data Questions – develop dashboards that can be used to answer commonly asked questions

Data Efficiency and Management

• Supporting the maintenance and improvement of the OIRA’s data warehouse system
• Collaborate to improve data storage, reporting, and visualization
• Collaborate to improve efficiency in processing and responding to data requests

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s required with 1+ years of experience
• Familiarity with higher education
• Advanced Excel skills (e.g., Pivot Tables)
• Familiarity survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics)
• Familiarity with data visualization tools and principles (e.g., Tableau)
• Institutional Research experience preferred
