Job description
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Implementation of data analysis for research projects, focusing on fundamental issues including specifications of hypotheses, proper study design and implementation. Perform statistical and computational analyses, including generation of genetic and genomic study data summaries and ad‐ hoc reports while ensuring completeness, correctness and integrity of analyses and
- Work closely with computational scientists on development and testing of novel software encapsulating new statistical, genetic, and genomic methods for human genetic/genomic data
- Work with the research team and take primary responsibility for the application of specialized advanced statistical and computational genetic and genomic techniques and analysis of extensive genetic and genomic data derived from multiple internal and external studies
- Execute a data analysis plan for these data including but not limited to genetic linkage analysis, genome wide association analysis, family‐based and case‐control analyses, network and pathway analyses, and application of existing and new computational genomic approaches toward high density, large scale sequence
- Responsible for the management of multiple concurrent projects, and to work within a group of biostatisticians, data managers and wet laboratory
Position Requirements
- M.S. degree in computer science/bioinformatics or statistical genetics, biostatistics, or related field required
- 5 or more years of experience with statistical and quantitative aspects of study design and analysis
- Proficiency in SAS, R, JMP and Python/Perl and willingness to learn new academic software packages as needed
- Experience with large data sets, such as those used in GWAS, whole exome and whole genome sequencing and large cohort studies
- Experience in providing data analysis support to researchers in human genetics/genomics greatly preferred
- Ability to multitask, work independently, and set own priorities, while maintaining accuracy and attention to details.
