SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general direction of the Housing Director, incumbent is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of CLE Residence Center housing, supervision of residential staff and management of housing for summer conferences. Charged with supporting the mission of the Institute and serves on Institutional Committees as needed.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure that student residential housing is maintained in accordance with IAIA policies and regulations.
  • Respond to minor violations of college policy by residents and take appropriate action
  • Case manages student disciplinary actions of minor violations.
  • Case manage CLE Residence Center student (residents) with health-related concerns
  • Assist Housing Director in training new CLE-RC staff.
  • Provide follow-up for all Residence Center work orders to individual rooms or common areas.
  • Prepare and submit housing reports required by Housing Director
  • Train, schedule, supervise and meet regularly with student work study Resident Assistants.
  • Attend regular staff meetings with housing staff.
  • Responsible for planning and implementing monthly room inspections.
  • Collaborate with the Area Coordinator in Family Housing to develop, implement and support the Residence Hall Association.
  • Resolve resident conflict through mediation or referral.
  • Apply knowledge of and adherence to confidentiality requirements and code of ethics.
  • Maintain records and accounts of funds and supplies utilized in the program area.
  • Supervise summer office staff in providing services to conference guests.
  • Coordinate with Facilities Rental Department housing and services for summer conference guests
  • Provide courteous, professional response to summer conferences guest requests.
  • Supervise staff in programming and activity planning.
  • Knowledge of support resources in the field of student relations.
  • Participates in meetings as required.
  • Perform other related tasks essential to this function, as assigned.
Requirements:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

BA degree in student affairs or related field or equivalent experience and four (4) years responsible experience in dealing with students in a dormitory environment. Must have a clean driving record in order to be bondable to drive a company vehicle. Must have computer knowledge/skills in order to use internal room scheduling system.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must have an understanding and sensitivity to American Indian Cultures and Alaskan Native Cultures.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles and techniques of conflict resolution and the ability to resolve conflicts in a constructive manner.
  • Knowledge of basic counseling skills and crisis management
  • Knowledge of support resources campus-wide and in the local community.
  • Ability to interact positively with local, regional, national and tribal personnel, agencies and organizations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written in order to collect, exchange and provide information.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels and with all people and groups.
  • Ability to interact and successfully work with students, staff, faculty, and network with appropriate campus resources.
  • Ability to interact and successfully work with college students as related to job duties.
  • Adhere to appropriate standards of conduct and ethics including:

  • Ability to work with moderate supervision, begin projects and complete projects independently in a timely manner, and initiate and complete projects as needed.
  • Knowledge of word processing and computer capabilities.
  • Must be able to drive a government vehicle and meet the requirements entailed as part of regular duties.
  • Must be able to perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to sit, stand and or walk for extended periods of times.
  • Ability to use a computer workstation.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic to complex data/information/guidelines/ procedures, etc related to student housing/conference management procedures/guidelines.
  • Ability to move and/or maneuver items weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Performance evaluation will include assessment of performance results as described herein.
  • Occasional out-of-town travel for meetings and conferences using a personal vehicle or company vehicle.
