Position Overview
The primary role of the Residential Senior Supervisor is to ensure that all of the needs of the people supported in FREE’s IRAs and ICFs are met while working in partnership with each team. These needs include, but are not limited to, ensuring their rights are both promoted and respected, supporting their health and safety and working with them to identify and realize their personal outcomes. In order to accomplish this, the Residential Senior Supervisor leads a team including Residential Supervisors and Direct Support Professionals, in conjunction with clinical providers that work alongside the people supported to develop plans to meet the individuals’ needs. The Residential Senior Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring that these plans are both followed and documented in an appropriate and timely manner.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions
  • Direct oversight of the Residential Supervisors and other assigned team members in their role and responsibilities & cover Residential Supervisor duties when needed
  • Ensure that the rights, health, safety and personal outcomes of the people living in the program are being supported at all times
  • Advocate with the people we support in a variety of situations
  • Work with the people we support to teach them new life skills
  • Work in partnership with external providers (employers, day services, etc.) to ensure that all supports and services provided are in alignment and designed to meet the needs of the people living in the residence
  • Interview, hire, develop and retain high quality staff
  • Ensure all team members in the residence are fulfilling the roles and responsibilities of their positions. Provide supervision and guidance to all team members working in the residence on an ongoing basis. Address performance issues through performance improvement or corrective action measures
  • Manage team members’ time worked in the residence while ensuring there are sufficient team members to meet the needs of the people living in the residence at all times
  • Ensure residence and individual finances are balanced and in compliance
  • Prevent, recognize and report abuse toward the people we support
  • On-call responsibilities
  • Ensure that all required documentation is completed /processed appropriately and in a timely manner

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Always communicate in a respectful manner with all people including the people we support, supervisors, other valued team members, and members of the community
  • Coordinate, support, attend and participate in all required events/ meetings/ reviews/ committees, including ones outside of standard working hours
  • Complete all required trainings and stay in compliance
  • Maintain the confidentiality of any information relating to individuals and employees of the organization
  • Ensure that the residence, including the external property, is clean, safe and attractive at all times
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education, Work Experience, and Competencies
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience and at least 1 year working with individuals with disabilities
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and satisfy criteria to be a driver for FREE
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with flexibility, keeping others informed and anticipating needs is essential
  • Must be efficient, well organized, and have excellent communication skills
  • Proficient writing skills with grasp of basic grammar and spelling

Physical Demands

  • Employee is required to sit, walk and stand for prolonged period of time (at least 8 hours)
  • Employee is required to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Employee is required to operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax and filing cabinets
  • Employee is required to reach with hands and arms
  • Employee is required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or stand on a stool as needed
  • Employee is required to be able to lift 50 pounds at a time
