Retail Managers develop business, people, and accomplish goals to drive top performance of the branch. They collaborate with other lines of business to maximize growth opportunities within the communities they serve.

Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Attracts, retains, and supports the career development of retail team members.
  • Develop and foster relationships with key customers and prospects within the community.
  • Demonstrate an excellent customer experience, engaging customers by name, in a friendly professional manner.
  • Coach and mentor retail staff through frontline training to follow policies and procedures, promote compliance with auditing standards, and demonstrate sound judgement to minimize the risk of fraud.
  • Maintain a well-developed working knowledge of the Bank’s products and services.
  • Lead and drive successful sales and service initiatives.
  • Facilitate and support sales meetings and daily huddles.
  • Coordinate and perform retail duties including customer transactions, opening and servicing deposit accounts, and consumer lending.
  • Collaborate with Retail Support Manager and other lines of business to align branch efforts with the strategic direction of Heartland Bank.

Manager Essential Job Functions

  • Ensures department or branch compliance with all policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal regulations
  • Staffs all functions within department and ensures proper onboarding of new personnel
  • Takes actions that resolve conflicts and addresses complaints and problems quickly and effectively
  • Manages budget, invoices and employee expense reimbursements of the department or branch
  • Demonstrates the ability to independently make and communicate sound decisions based upon policies, knowledge, and experience
  • Establishes an environment that creates incentives for, and eliminates barriers to, a team environment
  • Makes appropriate strategic decisions to increase productivity, including creating a clear organizational structure, providing the necessary tools for the team to do their jobs, and creating repeatable processes that increase efficiency and reduce unnecessary variations
  • Ensures that departmental or branch goals are in alignment with those of the larger organization and department or branch performance is monitored to ensure success

Other Job Requirements

  • Participate in bank and community initiatives.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Associates Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Banking, Sales, Marketing, Retail, and/or Sales Associate preferred
  • Minimum 1 year's Leadership experience
  • Must comply with all requirements of the SAFE Act and obtain a Unique Identifier from the NMLS

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly: standing, talking, hearing, feeling/touching, vision - close, peripheral, depth, ability to adjust focus
  • Frequently: walking, lifting objects up to 30 pounds
  • Occasionally: sitting, climbing and/or balancing, reaching with arms and hands, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling
