  • Position Summary
      The pharmacist is responsible for all aspects of pharmacy practice for Cass Health's retail pharmacy. Ensures rigid adherence to all laws and regulations governing retail pharmacy practice and the role of a pharmacist. Upholds written policies and procedures of Cass Health System and maintains highest principles of moral, ethical, and legal conduct.

      EDUCATION:
        Required:
          Bachelor of Pharmacy
        Preferred:
          Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

      LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
        Required:
          Iowa license to practice pharmacy
          Valid Drivers license

      TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
        Required:
          1 year experience in Retail Pharmacy Practice

    The following Job Responsibilities / Duties are intended to describe the general nature of the responsibilities and duties associated with this position.       Performs daily operations of the Cass Health Pharmacy and provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, clinical services and teaching.
      • Able to dispense, adjudicate and monitor outpatient refill prescription filling and inventory in retail setting.
        • Prepares, fills, labels, and dispenses medications for outpatient use in accordance with a high standard of care
      • Compounds pharmaceuticals for outpatient administration as ordered.
      • Maintains an adequate drug supply for customer needs.
      • Maintains and assures physical environment of the pharmacy and complies with federal and state requirements.
        • Supervises drug storage, security and preparation areas within the Pharmacy.
        • Monitors and removes outdated medications, recalls.
      • Maintains the budget, including but not limited to the acquisition of drug supplies.
      • Helps develop and write policies and procedures, monitors compliance of policies and procedures.
      • Required to participate in Quality Improvement Program as set forth by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy.
      • Helps maintain records of all controlled substances ordered, received, returned, dispensed and/or administered for a minimum of two years.
      • Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' workflow, verifying their preparation, and labeling of pharmaceuticals, and verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
      • Displays professional qualities at all times.
      • Follows all regulatory standards as set forth by the Iowa Board of Examiners.
      • Performs all other duties as assigned by Pharmacist in Charge (PIC).
