Under limited direction, develops, evaluates and provides strategic direction for the Laboratory’s Enterprise Risk Management Program, procedures, and standards. Maintains program or department compliance with Laboratory Requirements, as well as applicable local, state, and federal regulations, requirements, and standards and all Department of Energy (DOE) Directives. Critical duties include being the subject matter expert for risk assessment and the identification and evaluation of risk mitigation at Fermilab.

You Will:
  • Establishes, promotes, and fosters a culture of risk awareness throughout the Laboratory.
  • Develops and implements the Laboratory’s Enterprise Risk Management Program and oversees the work of the Risk Management Program Coordinator.
  • Oversee the development of procedures and policies that help identify, evaluate, and manage risks; and supports the implementation of risk management processes.
  • Leads the development and maintenance of program-related documentation, tools, templates, and procedures.
  • Facilitates risk analysis with line organizations, guides the identification of mitigation plans, and conducts risk assessments.
  • Proactively monitors existing risks and mitigations through periodic risk assessment activities.
  • Manages the improvement of the operational and enterprise risk registers.
  • Creates and manages partnerships with interfacing teams such as Quality Assurance, Strategic Management, Operations, and Internal Audit to ensure inputs and outputs are defined.
  • Supervises and leads a team of professionals to steward the program, including all HR actions such as hiring, training, promotions, performance and merit reviews, discipline and terminations. Acts as mentor for staff to ensure current functional knowledge. Ensures department provides sufficient staffing and excellent service to department customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.
We Are Looking For:
Minimum Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Law or related field with 10+ years of prior relevant experience in Project/Program Management, Risk Management or Auditing. Professional Risk Manager certification or other appropriate certifications a plus.
Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving aptitude.
  • Exceptional analytical and project management skills, including ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines while multitasking.
  • Familiarity with risk analysis and/or risk management techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and document management systems.
