1. Position
  • Robotics Technician
  • FLSA Classification(s): Non-exempt/Hourly

    2. Job Summary
  • Robotics Technician will build, install, test, and maintain robotic equipment or related automated production systems. They will make repairs to robots or peripheral equipment, such as replacement of defective circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, or servomotors.

    3. Immediate Supervisor
  • This position reports directly to Automation and Maintenance Manager.

    4. Performance Standards

  • Communicating work progress and significant issues to the immediate supervisor.

    5. Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot robotic systems, using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor or feedback systems, hydraulics, or pneumatics.
  • Disassemble and reassemble robots or peripheral equipment to make repairs such as replacement of defective circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, and servomotors.
  • Perform preventive or corrective maintenance on robotic systems or components.
  • Maintain service records of robotic equipment or automated production systems.
  • Install, program, or repair programmable controllers, robot controllers, end-of-arm tools, or conveyors.
  • Document robotics test procedures and results. Prepare procedural documents.
  • Align, fit, or assemble component parts using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, templates, or microscopes.
  • Develop robotic path motions to maximize efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Train personnel to install, use, or maintain robots.
  • Program PLC Allen Bradley Marks (Control Logix / SLC 500) as well as Siemens (type S5/S7)
  • Program Servo Drives.
  • Test performance of electromechanical assemblies, use test instruments such as oscilloscopes, electronic voltmeters, or bridges.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    6. Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering / Robotic Training Certification or equivalent discipline.
  • 5+ years experience in FANUC/ABB/ Robots or a related Robotic equipment.
  • Excellent problem solving abilities and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with motor control centers.
  • Experience with PLCs is required (experience with Allen Bradley is a plus).
  • Experience with Drives (AC/DC).
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting for AC motors (parts description and function of each part)
  • Knowledge for connections in 240 and 480 VAC and interconnections in delta/star
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting for servomotors motors(parts description and function of each part) .

    7. Working Conditions
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, dangerous high voltages and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is often loud.

    8. Physical Requirements


  • The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
