Safe Alliance - Family Advocate
The Family Advocate supports the agency mission of providing hope and healing to those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault by providing direct client services to minors and their caregivers.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Client Care
Using trauma-informed, client-centered approach:
- Assist client with DVPO paperwork.
- Provide courtroom support, accompaniment, outreach, and crisis intervention for victims of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and child maltreatment.
- Provide intake, assessment, crisis intervention and safety planning.
- Provide case management services to include making referrals to community resources, accessing victim's compensation, and assist with address confidentiality.
- Ensure coordinated client care with key community partners.
- Develop appropriate activities that promote social and emotional growth for children of all ages.
- Facilitate an effective children's support group.
- Research and implement an appropriate and effective teen support group.
- Provide telephone and hotline crisis intervention as needed.
- Act with client in mind and work to meet client's needs and expectations to the extent possible.
Administration
- Establish and implement a child-focused intake process for the Victim Assistance Court Program.
- Research and identify resources available in the community that are directly focused on children to create a more holistic approach to services.
- Create age appropriate activities for children with a focus on teaching appropriate behaviors, healthy relationships, and coping strategies.
- Maintain accurate, up to date client, program and agency records, including statistics and case tracking.
- Record and report program statistics accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Research, write and manage grant reporting and grantor relationships, as assigned by supervisor.
- Adhere to agency procedures concerning Documentation, Critical Incident Reports and Client Satisfaction Surveys and participate in the Peer Review process.
Stewardship
- Support agency mission by assisting in agency events or outreach efforts.
- Increase community awareness of victimization, prevention, and available resources through public speaking and media requests as assigned by supervisor.
- Support agency mission by participating in agency and community meetings and committees as requested by supervisor.
- Promote and maintain professional relationships with agency staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Work to ensure goals and outcomes for the program are met.
Professional Development
- Contribute to quality services by staying informed of developments and trends in the area of trauma and victimization, especially as it relates to intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and child maltreatment.
- Maintain and develop skills and knowledge by attending training, especially as it relates to victimization and trauma; ensure licensure and certifications are up to date as needed for the job.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, twist, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- The worker is required to have the ability for close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection), to determine accuracy and thoroughness of work assignment.
- Position requires ability to reach, stand, crouch, walk, and finger, grasp, sit, twist, talk, hear, and perform repeated motions.

- Work hours vary and include evening and weekend work.
- Employee must have access to transportation that allows them to meet all job requirements in a timely fashion.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Safe Alliance may still be subject to government mandated vaccine requirements and testing as outlined by the OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard. All applicants must be willing to submit proof of vaccination status or test weekly.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Child Development or Recreation. Substantial relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.
- 2+ years' related experience
- Excellent communication skills
PREFERENCES
- Experience working with victims
- Experience in human services
- Spanish speaking preferred - If hired as a Spanish speaking employee, employee must be fluent in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish.
