Job Title: Safety & Security Specialist
Reports To: Retail Asset Protection Supervisor

Patagonia is looking for an experienced, compassionate, highly motivated individual to assist in all areas of Safety & Security. What You’ll Do/Job Functions:
  • Partners with store leadership to facilitate an open, inclusive, safe, and secure store environment for employees and customers.
  • Monitors & patrols interior & exterior, checks for and reports unsafe conditions, hazards etc.
  • Act as subject matter expert and first responder to incidents of shoplifting, trespassing, customer issues, medical emergency, fire, threats, emotionally distressed individuals, suspicious activity etc.
  • Works with store leadership to develop and train on appropriate lockdown and evacuation protocols.
  • Observes and reports activities and incidents.
  • Facilitates safe business opening and closing as requested.
  • Leads incident reporting, ensuring accurate documentation of security and safety incidents. Works closely with store leadership to facilitate remedial action as needed.
  • Conducts regular cadence of meetings with store staff covering safety, loss prevention, de-escalation, etc.
  • Partners with retail operations and store leadership to maintain compliance with all regional, state, and local health and safety requirements.
  • Conducts periodic review of key operational areas as it relates to safety, security, cash handling, etc.
  • Assists in loss investigations through CCTV review and/or evidence collection.

Experience You Bring/Job Requirements:
  • 5+ years combined experience in physical security, law enforcement, military, community outreach, customer service and/or emergency response coordination.
  • Be at least 21 years of age with at least a high school education or equivalent (GED).
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing racial justice and equity.
  • Possess knowledge and skills needed to successfully and inclusively, work within a multicultural, multicolored, multinational, and otherwise diverse business environment.
  • Acknowledge and continually try to surface and address their own biases, stereotypes, privilege, and power.

  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Basic computer skills & knowledge (Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
  • Knowledge & understanding of CCTV systems.
  • Knowledge & understanding of access control systems
