Successful West Michigan Trucking company is seeking an individual as an Assistant to fill a role in our Safety Department. Looking for someone who takes initiative is not afraid of change, able to look for ways to improve processes and procedures and willing to work as a team. Great communication skills a must. Some main responsibilities will include working as a team to share in the following Assistance with Safety & HR.

· Assist in ensuring that company is meeting and exceeding all FMCAS safety aspects.

· Assist with follow-up with any driver involved in accident or incident and access training needs and completion of training program.

· Assist with administering and ensuring that company is meeting all DOT Drug & Alcohol regulations.

· Assist with ensuring that all drivers are compliant with medical cards, driver’s licenses, annual reviews.

· Taking recruiting calls, orientations, HR on-boarding documentation, hiring qualifications, background screening, verifications, benefits, driver retention.

· Employee Leave of Absence & OSHA Reporting.

· Work as part of a team.

· Eventual rotating On-Call After hours calls will be required.

Required Experience

Transportation / Safety Knowledge

Knowledge of Hours of Service / DOT / FMCSA

Experienced with all Microsoft products; Word, Excel, Outlook

Must be organized and detailed oriented

Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Additional

Human Resources Experience beneficial

Recruiting / Onboarding of New Employees

Knowledge of OSHA beneficial

Knowledge of transportation industry beneficial

Knowledge of DOT Hours of Service beneficial

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
