• In 2021, we were able to serve 11,341 service members and families to provide 45,942 points of service and reach all 5 branches of service as well as our veteran community within Coastal Virginia.
• We believe in Strengthening Our Military Family and are committed to doing all we can to ensure our service members and their dependents are supported.

• We offer paid in-house training, CPR/AED/First Aid, and Online Certifications.
• Buses are well maintained and drivers work directly with the Business Operations Manager and School-Age Care Director.
• Drivers have an opportunity to attend off-site activities (field trips), especially during the summer months (June-August): Busch Gardens, Gator Pool, Ocean Breeze, Norfolk Zoo, Air and Space Center, etc.

• High School Diploma or GED or verification of completion of a home school program approved by the state;
• Previous experience with the operation of a 15 passenger van, Minibus, or similar. A CDL is NOT required;
• Must be at least 21 years of age;
• Complete background checks;
• Comply with Virginia Dept. of Education licensing requirements for child day centers;
• Have a valid driver’s license and good driving record; CDL Preferred;
• Knowledge of the military life and its challenges, a plus; and
• Must be able to lift 35 lbs., bend, stand for long periods of time, and walk up and down stairs and steps.

• Complete staff trainings to become familiar with Employee Policies and Procedures and Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) licensing requirements for Child Day Centers;
• Supervise children at all times, making sure all are in attendance when embarking/disembarking bus;
• Incorporate the ASYMCA character values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty;
• Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols when transporting children as set forth in the parent/guardian and employee handbooks;
• Transport children to/from schools, following the designated bus route;
• Perform Pre/Post vehicle inspections to ensure the safe operation of each bus (to include securing materials/supplies, verifying First Aid Kit has needed supplies, etc.;
• Refuel transport bus(es);
• Promote a clean, healthy and organized environment by performing daily cleaning/sanitizing protocols; and
• Model healthy habits, behaviors, and actions recognizing that ASYMCA staff represent the organization at all times and are role models for children.

The Armed Services YMCA enhances the lives of military members and their families in spirit, mind, and body through programs relevant to the unique challenges of military life. Priority shall be given to providing needed programs and services for junior enlisted personnel, both single and married, and their family members. The focus of work shall be in three areas - youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Services may be provided to military personnel other than junior enlisted where resources are available. Programs and services shall be designed to complement and supplement those provided by the Armed Forces, either on or off military installations as appropriate.
