The Coatesville Area School District is seeking School Police Officers. To apply you must apply on our CASD Human Resources district website. This is a 10 month (210 Day) position.
The School Police Officer (SPO) will be tasked with a wide variety of law enforcement activities related to the school environment to ensure general safety and security of their assigned school. Applicants must have successfully completed basic training (Act 120) as required by the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission under 53 Pa.C.S. Ch. 21 Subch. D. The Act 120 Certification must be active.Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years experience. Applicants should have already attended or are able to attend a 40-hour NASRO Basic SRO course or equivalent, funded by the school district .
SPO responsibilities include building positive relationships between students and faculty and requires the ability to effectively fulfill the roles of mentor, instructor and law enforcement officer in order to meet the goals of the SPO program and to create and maintain a safe, secure and positive learning environment. Responsibilities include disseminating information, arbitrating disputes, providing assistance through referrals, property protection, crime detection and prevention, investigative, and other public safety services.
The SPO holds the same level of authority and responsibility to exercise the same powers as exercised under authority of law or ordinance by the police of the municipality in which the school property is located.
Hours of Work: Monday—Friday 40 hour schedule running concurrent with the SPO’s assigned school. Excludes Teacher Planning and School Holidays. May also require overtime for school events/activities that fall outside of the school’s standard hours.
Schedule: 6:00am-2:00pm; 7:00am-3:00pm; or 3:00pm-11:00pm. Work hours are subject to change.
External Candidates will be required to provide mandatory clearances. This includes the Act 34 (State Criminal Clearance), Act 151 (Child Abuse) and Act 114 (FBI Clearance).

Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
