At Prevail Therapeutics, we are developing a pipeline of gene therapies to slow or stop the underlying disease process for patients with Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. We are leveraging recent breakthroughs in human genetics that point to potential disease-modifying targets for neurodegenerative diseases. Our programs utilize a precision medicine approach targeting patient populations with urgent unmet needs, where there are currently no available therapies that modify the progressive course of their disorders.
The Scientist, Preclinical Research and Development will support the validation of novel therapeutic candidates by performing hands-on, bench-level research involving both cell culture and tissue-based experiments, as well as sample processing and analyses from in vivo animal studies. The successful candidate will work with the Preclinical R&D team to coordinate in vivo studies with contract research organizations (CROs) and manage sample inventory. The ideal candidate will be a team player, with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out in vitro studies and support analysis from in vivo studies
  • Perform expression analysis at the mRNA and protein level
  • Conduct immunocytochemical (ICC) and immunohistochemical (IHC) analyses
  • Manage studies conducted by CROs, and with academic collaborators, including shipment coordination and sample inventory management
  • Train new team members in use of equipment, laboratory procedures and protocols as needed
  • Critically assess data generated from diverse experimental approaches in cell and molecular biology

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelors with 2+ years/Masters with 1+ years of work experience in academia/industry preferably in neuroscience.
Additional Preferences:
  • Experience performing basic techniques in molecular biology and cell biology, including qPCR and immunoassays
  • Experience with histological techniques including IHC and ICC preferred but not required
  • Ability to think critically and creatively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative scientific environment
Additional Information:
  • Position Location: New York City, Prevail Therapeutics a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly
  • Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $53,500 to $132,500 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).Of course, the compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
