Role Description:

The Scrum Master we are looking for will coordinate people and projects to facilitate daily stand-ups and supporting the team in following the Scrum delivery process. If you’re a strong communicator, a capable leader and you’re invested in Agile frameworks, we’d like to meet you. The ideal candidate would be able to coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects and ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget. Additionally, this person often authors user stories, acceptance criteria and execute a portion of the testing on projects. These initiatives will be within software and application development, enhancements, and upgrades.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather, analyze and document business requirements, process flows, and transfer knowledge to the development team with Agile environments while managing project’s scope and timelines.
  • Serve the team and product owner in turning requirements into the working software and Manage and report the status of scope, schedule, resourcing and financials.
  • Coordinate sprints, retrospective meetings and daily stand-ups, coach team members in Agile frameworks and facilitate internal communication and effective collaboration.
  • Guide various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) regarding development and enhancement of existing and new applications.
  • Ensure product quality expectations are defined and known across the team in addition to collaborating with the team in scheduling work, including defect remediation and refactoring, guarding against the accumulation of technical debt.
  • Serve as point of contact for external communications (e.g. from customers or stakeholders) and remove impediments allowing the team to focus on engineering tasks.
  • Guide project team meetings including sprint pre/planning meetings, daily scrum and sprint review meetings while facilitating retrospective discussions and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work with product owners to handle backlogs and new requests in addition to collaborating with cross functional teams to resolve conflicts and remove obstacles that occur.
  • Ensure deliverables are up to quality standards at the end of each sprint and guide development teams to higher scrum maturity.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • 3-4+ years’ experience fulfilling Scrum Master role within SW/application development projects
  • Previous experience fulfilling Scrum Master role within software development
  • Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, product backlogs, backlog refinement)
  • Good knowledge of other Agile frameworks (SAFe)
  • Practical use of project management and collaboration tools (JIRA, Appian, etc.)

Preferred Requirements:

  • Any expertise with data-oriented projects within banking/financial industry is a plus
  • Scrum master certification is a plus (CSM, PSM)
  • Previous experience in an organizational Agile transformation is a plus but not required
