Job Summary:
The nature of “lead” responsibilities may vary slightly depending on the core job, but generally involves exercising limited supervision over a group of employees that are typically classified in the same core job family. An incumbent performs much the same work as others in the job family, participating in the day-to-day operations of the work unit, with “lead” work comprising a relatively minor portion of the overall job. The work requires knowledge of the policies, procedures and equipment applicable to the work unit at appointment.

Note: Incumbents may not perform all of the representative examples of “lead” job duties below, but they must perform a number of them to warrant classification as a “lead”.

Valid Washington State driver’s license and a clean driving record with no action pending/taken at any time in response to unsafe driver performance or other legal requirementsInternational Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification preferred.
Current healthcare BLS certification.

- Performs lead duties for work unit.
- Monitors individual staff performance and provides feedback to higher-level authority; coaches employees on procedures and protocols; may provide input into formal employee performance evaluations; may make recommendations with respect to employee pay, recognition, discipline and/or termination.
- Provides on-the-job training to new or lower-level employees; monitors work flow, prepares work schedules and reviews work to ensure it meets quality and productivity standards; orders/maintains appropriate supply levels; identifies training needs and advises higher-level authority.
- Pre-screens job applicants and may conduct initial employment interviews; participates in the processes for employee new hires and terminations; may conduct department-level new hire orientations.
- May assist in implementing new procedures or processes; explains new and/or revised procedures, forms or other tools to staff; may demonstrate new systems, PC applications, equipment or supplies.
- Assists employees with complex/unprecedented/ambiguous matters, reviews elevated issues/situations and takes action consistent with assigned scope of authority
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- One year of work experience in the senior level of the job family, or any combination of experience or education that would demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Satisfactory Abstract of Driving Record (Type: Employment Record) must be provided and meet departmental standards.
- Considerable knowledge of the policies, standards, procedures, processes and tools applicable to the work unit and the function.
- Minimum age requirement of 21 years for insurance coverage eligibility which is mandatory for driving security vehicles.
License/Certification:
