DESCRIPTION:

Vertilite is a fast-growing, well-funded start-up company located in the heart of Silicon Valley – San Jose, California, focusing on optoelectronic device design and manufacturing. Our main products include VCSEL chips for sensing and Time of Flight (ToF) modules for 3D sensing, NIR illumination and Lidar.

We are in a stage to expand our product portfolio, to include InP based optoelectronics devices for optical communication applications. The successful candidate will be hands on, self-motivated and passionate with new technologies. She/He will possess the skills described in this opportunity, including familiarity with device physics, opto-mechanical and opto-electronic systems, testing software and equipment, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail and eager to be a team player.

Key responsibilities:

• Design verification testing (DVT) and characterization (LIV, spectrum, far field, S-parameter, eye diagram) of high-speed Lasers
• Support design and implementation of test equipment in R&D environment needed to perform DVT characterization tests, including RF / high speed circuit design, software/hardware integration, automation
• Define performance specification limits for laser diodes
• Document and present characterization results and failure analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with characterization of laser devices
• Experienced in development and implementation of test setups for R&D environment
• Solid understanding of semiconductor-laser physics
• Strong analytic and data analysis/mining skills via Excel, Matlab, etc
• Master degree or above preferred in electrical, optical or physical engineering
