About the opportunity:
The Senior Accountant has responsibilities that include but are not limited to: the preparation of financial reports for multiple entities and related detailed management account analysis on an accrual basis accounting. The Senior Accountant has to maintain the integrity of the financial reporting and be in compliance with the GAAP and SCC policy. In addition, the Senior Accountant provides assistance to corporate, regional, and on-site personnel.
What are some of the responsibilities of a Senior Accountant?
Daily Responsibilities:
- Cash management review of multiple entities (includes but is not limited to reviewing credit card receipts, daily posting of rental receipts in RealPage, and maintaining a positive cash balance)
- NSF retrieval from CEO and forwarding to Community Managers.
- Positive Pay submissions to Wells Fargo
- Responsible for submitting stop payment as needed
Monthly Responsibilities:
- General Ledger analysis, analyzing and investigating variances and trends. (Includes reviewing all transactions and ensure accuracy of GL coding and making necessary corrections as needed).
- Records all monthly accruals – Accruals that are submitted from operations need to be reviewed and analyzed for accuracy
- Reviews variance explanations provided by Community Managers, provides explanations on variances to transactions below NOI
- Reviews all reclassification entries provided by the Community Managers and responsible for booking transactions to the accounting system.
- Reviews all expenses and properly coding all capital expenses in the general ledger.
- Bank reconciliation process for both operating and security deposit accounts if applicable (review outstanding checks and voiding all stale dated checks properly)
- Balance sheet account reconciliations which include but not limited to monthly escrow account reconciliations, delinquent and prepaid accounts, intercompany accounts and etc.
- Records loan draws and replacement reserve reimbursements
- Reconciliation of insurance claim reimbursements and disbursements
- Responsible for forecasting all balance sheet and overhead expense accounts
- Reconciliation of OneSite Leasing and Rents reports with the Accounting Reports.
- Prepares special report/projects by analyzing variances, preparing budgets and forecasts
- Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data
- Reconciliation of payroll transactions from the GL to the labor distributions
Quarterly/Annual Responsibilities:
- Quarterly update of Operating Performance Report, utility deposit, and replacement reserve draw reports
- Quarterly accrual of Capital Rehab Fees (supervision fees)
- Ensures the timely payment of property taxes, liability insurance, and other business tax payments and updating property tax tracking report
- Complies with state business tax filings, renewal of business licenses, personal property asset listing, and other state filings.
- Prepares and submits quarterly replacement reserve draws
- Preparation of work paper packages for annual audit ensuring the accuracy of all the supporting schedules
- Assists in various reports requested by auditors
- Compile Year-End Reports (B/S, I/S, TB, and Capital Expenditures and etc.)

Requirements:
- B.A./B.S. in Accounting or related field
- Minimum of five years of accounting experience, including consolidations and preparing for outside audits
- Experience with a multi ledger accounting system and strong Excel/spreadsheet skills
- Demonstrated abilities in G/L management and financial reporting; preparing journal entries, G/L analysis, bank reconciliations, budget, and forecast analysis
- Experience with RealPage, Yardi, or other multi-ledger accounting systems
