The Claims Recovery practice is part of the Forensics – Risk division specializing in quantifying, compiling, and preparing property damage, extra expense, and business interruption insurance claims for various insured perils. Our services range from property damage assessments to forensic accounting, to litigation support, to quantifying insurance losses, to providing expert testimony and more.

These services include the following claim preparation services:
  • Responsible for being a key team member and undertaking projects and monitoring the quality of work performed on the quantification of insurance claims, predominately as a result of property damage and cyber insured losses
  • Gather and analyze financial data for the purposes of quantifying damages and preparing insurance claims
  • Correspond with insurance adjusters, risk managers, internal accounting staff and lawyers discussing issues and our findings
  • Prepare reports, schedules, and appendices in a clear and concise manner in accordance with generally accepted standards for these types of assignments
  • Ability to assume broader financial, resource and administrative accountabilities in addition to individual engagement work
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, including accountability for most operational aspects of client engagement
  • Participate in presentations made to current and prospective clients
  • Develop the capabilities of less experienced staff through coaching, mentoring, knowledge transfer, internal training delivery, and assignment of challenging work opportunities

The Senior Associate is responsible for compiling, analyzing and documenting results, and recommendations during client engagements and other insurance risk management practice assignments as necessary.

Essential Duties:
  • Assists in the preparation of client work products including property damage, extra expense, and business interruption losses
  • Interacts with client contacts at the appropriate levels
  • Participates in engagement fact finding, including interviews with client contact and client document review
  • Analyzes client information to establish trends and patterns, and performs analyses to support the client’s financial losses
  • Adheres to the Firm’s quality control standards and prepare client work to the Firm’s expectations
  • At the direction of practice leadership, researches new business opportunities and assists with practice initiatives

Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree, required; degree with a focus in Communications, Business, Accounting, Economics, or Finance, preferred

Experience:
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in insurance claims preparation and/or professional client services role, required
  • Experience in at least one of the following lines of business: financial accounting, insurance, advisory services, preferred

License/Certifications:
  • Accounting / Finance designation (i.e., CPA, CFF, CFA), preferred

Software:
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word, required

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and basic research skills related to the retrieval and organization of high volumes of information, especially financial data
  • Solid organizational skills, especially an ability to meet project deadlines
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel
  • Identifies and assists in practice business development efforts, including client pursuits and proposals
  • Supports a collaborative and team-oriented environment while pushing themselves, their peers, and their teams for strong results and quality work
  • Effectively handles firm and practice administrative matters, including engagement staffing, client billing, monitoring project economics and adherence to Firm quality standards and protocols
  • The successful candidate must also be willing and able to travel, when necessary
