Overview

We are partnering with a leading retailer to bring on a Senior Color Developer! This position works to review and approve lab dips, do color development and/or product development. This is a 6-month contract position that is hybrid based out of Portland, OR.

Top Skills: 1-Development Experience or Color Design Experience 2- Proven management of data/record keeping 3-Strong verbal/social skills
Must be able to see color well (Pass Munsell hue color test)


WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for detail oriented color expert, with strong analytical, communication and leadership skills. You will be an important member of our color development team who will analyze color developments, ensure accuracy of color requirements, and keep appropriate documentation for on-time commercialization. In this Senior role you will possess a strong working knowledge of apparel industry color methods, systems, and research new technologies and innovations for implementation with cross functional partners. You should have a passionate drive to improve system and process, mentorship, and ability to help positively lead and influence the teams you work with.



WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?
As a Global Apparel Materials (GLAM) Color Developer, you will be the main point of contact partnering with Cross Functional teams to execute seasonal color direction. You will use your color knowledge and collaboration skills to help execute design lead color palettes and be responsible for on-time buy ready commercialization. You will help lead and implement the design and development of tools and processes to support color execution for the apparel. You will facilitate and track lab dips for seasonal initiatives and identify and address key issues and challenges in color development. You will ensure on time development according to critical dates and gates. In this role you will have the opportunity to interact with business teams involved in design, materials, product merchandising, product creation, material manufacturing and product integrity. You will also have a responsibility to help onboard and mentor new team members, research new innovations, and lead and implement best practices.



WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?
You will report into the Global Apparel Materials Team (GLAM) and support your development partners in seasonal color developments. You are a critical team member of the color development community and sought out as the expert resource. You will work in partnership with Local Office Colorist, Product Integrity, Color Design, Design, Product Merchandise, Technical Development, Product Creation Centers, and all (GLAM) Global Apparel Materials Team members.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING?
  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel, Textiles, or a related field (2 additional years’ experience in lieu of a degree)
  • Minimum 7 years relevant work experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including meeting facilitation and presentations
  • Ability to pass the Munsell Hue color test to determine visual color acuity
  • Understanding of the application of color on materials
  • Knowledge of apparel and material construction, including garment construction
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong information seeking-skills, personal drive, and ability to motivate others
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Adobe Illustrator
  • 5-10% travel required
  • Knowledge of heather materials and techniques
  • Knowledge of product creation process and the apparel business
  • Digital color systems and technology experience a plus
  • Understanding of PLM systems and digital color communications
  • Experience with PPS, Tableau, InDesign or Photoshop a plus
