We are seeking a full-time Senior Engineer - Interiors to join our lean and agile team in Mesa, Arizona. This role will report to the Engineering Manager - Structures (Interiors/Exteriors/BIW) and will plan and lead engineering projects associated with all interior components and system development. A successful applicant will demonstrate they are a proactive, self-starting and energetic individual with solid professional knowledge and proven career expertise who can function within cross functional teams.
Job Responsibilities

  • Develop of subsystem and component functional objectives, specifications as well as establishing performance targets (including benchmarking).
  • Design & Release responsible:
  • Seat System and related components and assemblies.
  • Delivery of world-class Interior Components, inclusive of Hard Trim, Soft Trim, IP, Door Trims, Consoles, Headliners, etc...
  • Develop interior commodities to meet all regulatory requirements as well as achieve balance between performance, cost and weight targets to meet vehicle requirements.
  • Coordinate subsystem and component level DFMEA and DVP&R activities.
  • Provided support for the layout and packaging and production launch of Interior Components and Systems.
  • Work proactively with cross-functional teams such as marketing, design, and vehicle engineering to ensure cost, timing and performance characteristics are met or exceeded.
  • Interface with internal and external stake holders to define interior component and subsystem performance requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with interior trim suppliers to ensure technical excellence and on-time delivery.
  • Lead suppliers through component and system validation via CAE/FEA and DVPR testing,
  • Conduct subsystem and component level testing.
  • Analyze data from testing activities and present to relevant stake holders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in a technical discipline required.
  • Minimum 10+ years automotive industry experience.
  • 5 to 8 years of automotive interiors, design & release experience in one or more areas of focus inclusive of Seating Systems, Hard Trim, Soft Trim, IP, Door Trims, Consoles, Headliners, etc...
  • Demonstrated product innovation and ability to manage a large development project.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and coordinate with internal and external stake holders on product development including design, analysis, testing, and drawing release.
  • General understanding of automotive APQP guidelines and requirements.
  • High Level of Computer Literacy (including spreadsheets).
  • Excellent Verbal & Written communication skills – builds effective relationships across departments.
  • Innovative and creative – enjoys building in the abstract and working without procedures.
  • Initiative to develop and implement process improvements. Continuous improvement outlook.
  • Abides by Health & Safety standards and emphasizes their importance to team members.
  • Legally able to work in the United States of America.
  • Legally able to travel internationally.
