BACKGROUND
Unilever International (UI) is an alternative but complimentary route to market business, servicing white space opportunities not exploited by local operating countries. It is a global opco offering a diverse range of products sourced from over 80+ SUs/3PMs and utilizing 1000+ 3rd party distributors and consolidators to reach consumers in over 150 markets. The business is headquartered in Singapore and has employees operating largely from 7+ hubs (Singapore, US, UK, Korea, India, Dubai and France). The UI global sales of €1.2 billion in 2022 are invoiced from 35+ Unilever legal entities. The business master data, transactional and P&L information resides across all SAP instances of Unilever and the performance is reported in 150+ iFinance reporting BU.
UI Finance’s vision is to be a Future-Fit Customer-centric Finance function that is at the heart of decision making and playing a co-pilot role in unlocking and preserving value for UI and Finance Business Partnering is a key enabler to this vision. This role is based in New Jersey and would be responsible to partner UI Americas business of ~ €200m (North & Latin Americas). The job is to oversee financial operations across BU/BGs within America. This role will support the business operations in the hubs as well as other start-up business units, which are launching across other countries as we look to accelerate the growth. The business is likely to see rapid growth through organic and white space activities, and is managed by a cross functional business team, that has dedicated resources in Customer Development, Marketing, Customer Service, Demand Planning and Finance.
Who You Are and What You'll Do
The purpose of this role is to provide finance and commercial business partnering to the team in the areas of performance management, Customer Development and marketing finance, risk and controls. This role will also be involved in evaluating new business opportunities and liaison with other UI hubs and Singapore HQ to share and operationalize best practice. You will also be building the network across key hubs within finance & business outside UI which will contribute to UIs further growth. The role offers a fantastic opportunity for the right person to demonstrate ownership of the end to end BU P&L and risk & control framework, develop all rounded finance and business acumen, build powerful network and would allow an ambitious and successful candidate to progress further within the organisation and within their career.
Business Partnering
  • Act as finance business partner to the Business Heads of UI Business Units (BU) in Americas
  • Ensuring that pricing is within the Unilever International strategic framework across all portfolios
  • Managing annual Strategic and Operational Plans
  • Customer management including credit management discipline
  • Hold governance on the CD and Marketing Activities related budgetary control including Overheads
  • Help Customer development (CD) and Marketing maximise Return on Investment
  • Closely interact with SC Finance to understand the cost base within the UI P&L, including forecasting future cost movements and understanding implications on pricing.
  • Develop business cases to evaluate new business opportunities required to maximise growth potential of the channel. Challenging assumptions and highlighting risks and opportunities.
  • Develop close working relationship with UI central/leadership teams, Business Group (BG) & BU Finance Teams outside UI
Financial Planning & Reporting
  • Lead month end actual and forecast reporting, communicating insight and analysis to the UI Americas and the wider business
  • Review in month performance vs forecast, highlighting gaps and recommending corrective action
  • Implement UI finance policies and governance framework
  • Ensuring “credit and managed businesses” are reported properly
Accountabilities
  • Financial results delivery of the UI business vs. Prior year and submitted forecast.
  • Year on year sales growth and gross margin enhancement.
  • A rigorous and accurate 12 month rolling financial forecast
  • Improvement in operational effectiveness measures (bill to cash, purchase to pay).
  • Overheads – Budget management
  • Working Capital management in conjunction with credit control
Development
  • Manage and develop UI Finance resources with structured workplan deliverables and robust flexible goals.
  • Expanding the overall financial and commercial awareness of the Americas based teams and sharing best practice across all UI hubs and functions.
What You'll Need to Succeed
  • 8+ years of relevant finance business partnership experience required with an accounting background preferred
  • Complex data analysis and intervention
  • Experience preparing business results, analysis and reviewing commentaries
  • Commercial support and decision support (including preparing business cases)
  • SAP experience a plus
Pay: The pay range for this position is $135,600 to $203,300 Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
