Responsibilities:

This position will perform master-level work on Mason HVAC systems and equipment. This work will include the installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of all HVAC equipment as required. Additionally, this position will analyze HVAC systems and controls to determine and isolate problems, and initiate appropriate corrective repairs. May also be required to perform other miscellaneous duties such as cleaning and painting equipment and mechanical areas; and insulating valves, piping, ductwork, and other components as needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent;
  • Completion of specialized HVAC industry training;
  • EPA-approved universal refrigerant recovery type I, II, & III CFC licenses;
  • Journeyman license;
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC service and repair gained through substantial hands-on experience; and
  • Must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator’s license that meets all of GMU’s requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason’s Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/. The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver’s licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • HVAC master license.
