Role and Responsibilities

· Support and potentially lead elements of design and development of electro-mechanical medical device mechanical systems.

· Design and develop new mechanical components and assemblies.

· Work in a cross functional team consisting of Electrical and Embedded Firmware engineers as well as Quality Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Systems Engineers, and Regulatory Affairs Associates

· Design and assemble prototypes

· Identifying deficiencies in mechanical designs and developing improvements

· Preparing documentation of critical analysis and providing suggestions for correcting errors within a regulated environment.

· Work with all aspects of development including system specifications, risk management, V&V test plans, traceability matrices, test protocols, and test reports.

· Review system and hardware designs from a mechanical perspective.

· Work with supply chain partners for design for manufacturability
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field

· At least 5 years of industry experience, preferable experience in the medical device industry.

· Lab skills: familiar with test equipment - e.g., Thermal chambers, Sound testing, and other mechanical test equipment (hands on work required).

· Experience applying GD&T to mechanical components and assemblies

· Familiarity and/or experience with design simulations such as FEA, CFD and thermal analysis

· Assist with generating test protocols and performing verification and validation testing.

· Familiarity with CAD and other mechanical design software

· Creative thinking, problem solving and innovation skills

· Great interpersonal communication and teamwork abilities

· Commercial awareness, including an understanding of target user and market

· Self-motivated and able to set personal and professions goals, and able to achieve these goals with minimal supervision.
Preferred Skills
· Injection molding and/or working closely with plastic manufacturers

· Solidworks CAD modeling

· 3D Printer experience for rapid prototypes

· Electro-mechanical design

· Experience with Pressure and Flow systems

· Sound mitigation

· Experience with development of medical devices in accordance with IEC 60601 and FDA regulatory requirements.

· Familiar with all levels of documentation associated with new product development.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
