Job Description

The Senior Solutions Engineer is responsible for the analysis, implementation, and support of line of business solutions and is a member of the Systems Engineering department who are responsible for the planning and engineering of the organizations’ enterprise corporate computing infrastructure. This person ensures that corporate systems are aligned with the business needs of WCS. Additionally, this person provides support for information security protection, risk reduction, and compliance of WCS computing systems and users.

Position Responsibilities

Direct
Consult with business units and departments to identify ways to improve operations, collaboration, and productivity.
Interface with management, users, and external parties to gather requirements for computing improvements
Develop and implement solutions using technology platforms and tools that enable and promote collaboration and sharing
Facilitate the adoption and consumption of solutions from project inception through documentation and training
Ensure all solutions are aligned with WCS objectives, budgets, and practices and are compatible with its technology portfolio
Maintain awareness and compliance with information security requirements
Define system requirements and capacity planning for solution elements
Determine maintenance and support activities to promote health, performance, and stability
Identify, evaluate, and install new software releases, and system upgrades and patches
Assist with managing the operating systems, applications, file systems and databases of enterprise servers and appliances
Participate in Change Management controls with change verification
Assist with information security with the primary goal of protecting the WCS computing environment
General
Conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
Contribute to systems and security recommendations for capital and operating budgets
Integrate with the Helpdesk, Network, and other IT staff in resolving user problems with applications as required
Work with vendors and other third parties in fulfillment of objectives
Provide project leadership for IT and related initiatives
Be available on call for emergencies as needed
Liaise with other business units within WCS
Perform other IT duties as needed

Qualification Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field
5+ years of experience in technology
Working effectively both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential

Work Conditions:
Some physical labor may be required at times to handle computing equipment
Working nights and weekends will be occasionally required to meet deadlines
Some local, domestic and overseas travel may be required to work at other WCS locations or to meet with vendors, stakeholders, or other off-site personnel
Office is located at the Bronx Zoo facility

Salary Range

$90,000 - $110,000
