We are seeking a Senior Specialists, Communications to join our team at the Nissan Vehicle Assembly Plant in Smyrna, TN.

Job Summary:
Contributes to the implementation of communication and engagement strategies primarily geared toward employees who work at Nissan’s manufacturing operations in Tennessee. This Communications Senior Specialist position requires a strong professional background in video production and storytelling. Extensive experience in videography and editing of daily, feature and in-depth television news assignments is preferred. This role has been filled by high-performing local TV photojournalists since 1983. A high level of decorum is required, as this role regularly interacts with all manufacturing job levels from entry-level technicians to global executive leadership. The position is based at the Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant and works cross-functionally with key internal business partners, such as Safety, HR and Benefits.

Supports internal communications videos, photography, closed-circuit TV slides, publications, employee events, signage and displays. Primary support is based in Smyrna, TN, but position regularly travels by car to Decherd, TN, in support of powertrain operation communications. This video shows several samples of videos produced by Senior Specialists in this role.

Job Functions:

Leads or assists in providing communication to manufacturing workforce through video production, still photography, employee app, graphic slides and other tools. Frequently records and edits executive messaging. Often this messaging does not contain obvious visual support components. Video editor must enterprise appropriate visual aids, such as creating graphic elements, to support content and maintain audience understanding and engagement. Regularly enterprises, writes, records and edits feature style video stories (with limited supervision) designed to inform, motivate and engage employees. Since video production is not needed daily, this role assists in and occasionally leads the planning and implementation of employee appreciation/engagement activities and programs, including annual Habitat for Humanity builds, Family Day and Nissan Movie Night. Provides communications consulting to internal groups and develops communications plans, as appropriate. Cultivates and maintains relationships with representatives of internal groups. Maintains video and photography archive to ensure ease of access to past communications and historical assets. Maintains studio, video and photography equipment. Monitors and makes recommendations for necessary equipment upgrades to ensure continuous uptime. Supports Nissan North America Headquarters Corporate Communications projects as needed. Acts as a continuous learner to maximize the video and photography technology available. As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative.

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualification statements reflect the minimum skills and abilities required of the qualified applicant.

Job Knowledge and Skill: Excellent skills in videography, non-linear editing and graphic creation, written and verbal communication. Existing skills or commitment to develop skills in still photography, photo editing and as a writer for news feature-style videos. Strong organizational skills with the ability to autonomously manage and prioritize projects and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively throughout the range of a manufacturing workforce, including executives.

Experience: Five or more years of directly related professional level Communications experience. Direct experience in the videography and non-linear editing of broadcast news stories or similar content.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related discipline.

Willingness to earn and maintain FAA Part 107 certification for safe and legal drone operations.

Computer Skills: Highly proficient in non-linear editing. Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro preferred. Experience with other Adobe CC software, such as After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign preferred. Experience with or willingness to develop skills in graphic support of video production. Moderate skills with Microsoft Office Suite. We shoot with Sony FS-7 Mark ll and Canon R5.
