JOB DESCRIPTION: Senior Systems Administrator

HOURS: Full-time/80 hours every 2 weeks, plus call 1st shift

JOB SUMMARY: Maintains overall health of computer network infrastructure. Monitors and maintains server/network traffic, network administration, firewalls, routers, switches, VPN, encryption, remote access, authentication, DNS, FTP, anti-virus, voice and data telecommunications, storage area networks, etc.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Plan, implement and maintain network infrastructure, to include firewalls, routers, switches, Wireless, VPN, analog telephony, and IP telephony
  • Plan, implement and maintain Server Infrastructure in conjunction with Systems Administrator
  • Plan and implement changes to the IT network for operating systems and security
  • Responsible for management of network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis of Quality of Service, and Bandwidth Management, troubleshooting network problems
  • Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation
  • Documents network and system diagrams, process flow diagrams, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Ensures network uptime and stability company-wide
  • Performs complex software/hardware troubleshooting, patches, and re-installations in accordance with established SLAs
  • Coordinate repairs and upgrades with outside vendors in accordance with established SLAs
  • Provides Tier 2 support for System Administrators for Server Infrastructure
  • Provides Tier 2 support for Information systems techs to assist in troubleshooting and maintaining Servers and End-user devices
  • Performs remedial maintenance of network devices including the restoration of hardware and software.
  • Assists Information Systems Director as needed for project management

Department Specific Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for on call rotation for after-hours system support
  • Required to carry a notification device such as a cellphone

Other Job Accountabilities:

  • Analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions within standards (where applicable)
  • Interpret guidelines and analyze information to adapt or modify processes in response to changing circumstances.
  • Duties may require non-routine analysis, research, and follow-through.
  • May act as a resource to team members to solve problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years related experience or equivalent combination

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience working with network and systems infrastructure in a business environment
  • Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, VOIP, administration and troubleshooting of Cisco, Ubiquity, SonicWall, Linux, or Microsoft

Skills:

  • Experience with scripting languages to include PowerShell, VB, and JavaScript
  • Experience building and deploying redundant Server Architecture
  • Experience building and administrating Citrix VDI, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Experience building and administrating Database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server

Licensure/Certification:

  • Professional certifications as appropriate are preferred (MCSE, CCNA, N+, S+)
