POSITION SUMMARY:
Supervises Peace Officers in the Security Department at the Administration Building, Justice Center, Neshaminy Manor, Health Department, Lower Bucks Government Service Center and Domestic Bristol Office. Supervises and is responsible for the safety and protection of any individual within patrol areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises, coordinates and corrects general security duties performed. Schedules Peace Officers duty tours
- Responsible for welfare and safety of County employees and visitors.
- Ensures all Peace Officers are on duty per schedule; inspects them for appearance.
- Responsible for Peace Officer Trainee hiring process.
- Responsible for all disciplinary actions as needed.
- Assigns Peace Officers to various posts throughout the responsible areas.
- Frequently makes rounds of areas of responsibility to ensure proper coverage, observe Peace Officers performance and routine operations
- Supervises protection and security of County property and equipment from damage or theft.
- Reports fires, safety hazards and illegal activities of persons on County property and takes necessary measures to correct.
- Supervises detention of persons causing physical damage to an individual or County property.
- Ensures that materials or equipment are not moved illegally.
- Provides emergency assistance to people needing help and those requiring the services of governmental agencies in an effective and efficient manner.
- Supervises and promotes positive work environment for pleasant attitudes of citizens toward governmental agencies.
- Reports unusual conditions or questionable items to the Director/Lieutenant.
- Performs similar or related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - High school diploma or equivalent plus additional recognized courses in police administration.
- Must have two years’ experience in a supervisor capacity.
- Must be in continued good condition, both physically and mentally and capable of working shift work.
- Must have a positive attendance record.
- Must have good communication skills
- Mature and courteous manner is essential
- Ability to tactfully, firmly and impartially enforce regulations
- Ability to instruct, supervise and correct subordinates
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates and associates
- Must possess and maintain Act 235 (Lethal Weapons Certification).
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Equivalent training/experience/education will be taken into consideration.
- A pre-employment physical must be passed prior to being hired.
