Job Overview

The shipping supervisor is responsible for monitoring the goods and services, ensuring their quality and quantity before packaging and shipment processing to avoid delays and possible client complaints. Shipping supervisors manage the shipment schedule, including verification of the location and determining correct charges. They also keep track of the incoming and outgoing deliveries by maintaining an organized record in the company's database. A shipping supervisor must have excellent communication and leadership skills, especially in handling customers' concerns, conducting item replacements, and overseeing the warehouse staff to meet maximum productivity goals.

  • Supervise employees to meet daily shipping schedules in high volume capacity traffic on multiple shifts.
  • Estimate product, equipment (truck/trailers), and staffing required to meet departmental schedules.
  • Manage the warehouse in an efficient manner as to gain maximum storage and flexibility.
  • Inspect, train, and monitor employees' compliance with the company's safety, quality and performance policies and procedures.
  • "Hands-on" approach with small crew plus temporary labor.
  • Works closely with production supervisors as necessary to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Supervise up to 4 people in the proper methods of shipping including monitoring order accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of the department.
  • Supervise up to 4 people in the proper methods of receiving including verification of receipts, the accuracy of entries, timely transactions, and accuracy of inventory transactions.
  • Communicate daily with Internal and External customers on the status of any order-related problems.
  • Verify employees' production reporting accuracy, procedural compliance, and time and attendance.
  • Conducts safety audits in compliance with the company's programs.
  • Develop and implement procedures to train employees in the safe and efficient method of all activities in areas of responsibility.
  • Be able to perform all duties and activities of the workers supervised.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma required, Enrolled or Completed Associate/Bachelor's degree or combination of education and experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish, strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of Shipping/Receiving, Manufacturing, Lead, or similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, PRMS, RF Scanners
  • Knowledge of Maxload, UPS Worldship, and Calculate.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster trusting relationships, teamwork, and cross collaboration
  • Can operate material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other handling equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time on a concrete floor; repeatedly reach above shoulder level an unlimited number of times daily, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, kneel, squat, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual activity
  • Occasional lifting (up to 100 pounds)

Working Conditions:

  • Normal Shop environment (concrete floors)
  • Work on sometimes uneven and/or slippery surfaces
