Truck & Equipment Corp. is a Mack truck, Hino truck, and Capacity yard tractor dealer located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The company offers sales of new and used trucks, leasing, parts, service, body shop, trailer shop, radiator shop, fuel injector testing, diesel fuel injection shop, and wash-bay services.

We have opened up a second Capacity dealer location in Winchester, VA. We also provide all makes truck parts and service through Winchester.

We strive to give the absolute best customer service and support by offering a large inventory of parts. The Transit department has factory certified technicians on site to diagnose and repair your truck to get you back on the road. There is not a job to small or too large for the body shop or trailer repair shop.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on trailers according to company standards for labor time and customer satisfaction.
  • Thoroughly perform appropriate and necessary diagnostics to identify problem utilizing all available factory technical information and specified tools/equipment.
  • Perform visual inspection of components in questions and assess the situation in order to compile a repair path to complete the repairs.
  • Review service write-up to verify required work and secure needed parts from the Parts Department.
  • Perform repair as outlined on repair orders within specified time frame according to department policies.
  • Be an example to other staff by not abusing or taking advantage of personal days off and always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence. Reporting to work on-time each day, after lunch and breaks, and not leaving early.
  • Test the operation following repair to ensure all maintenance and repair work is performed accurately and efficiently to prevent injury and further damage.
  • Maintain open communications and foster a harmonious working relationship with personnel in the dealership and be a team player in the shop.
  • Complete all tasks assigned in a timely manner and maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed documenting all parts and labor costs.
  • Ensure warranty claims are properly documented and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Comply with federal (ie, OSHA), state, and local regulations governing safety and hazardous waste disposal.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by cleaning bay after all repairs are complete, properly disposing of waste materials, sweeping floors, and removing trash on a daily basis.

QUALIFICATION:

  • High school diploma or GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Vocational or Technical Training in the Automobile Field preferred.
  • Valid VA drivers’ license; subject to insurance approval.
  • Commercial Driver's License Preferred

SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend diagnostic service information.
  • Ability to use appropriate power and hand-held tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, replace, and test equipment.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of operating and maintenance instructions including reading and interpreting safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum direction.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare routine paperwork.
  • Ability to understand directions and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Detailed working knowledge of trailer safety standards and related regulations.
  • The ability to use a computerized service control system and use a PC.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.

PHYSICAL: Body Positions: Sitting, standing, kneeling, crouching and stooping.

Body Movements: Turning head & torso, bending & flexing arms, wrists & fingers, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands & arms and lift or move 50lbs.

Body senses: Must be able to see and hear, have full power of speech as well as communicate on the phone with customers and associates. Must be able to see to read correspondence and related material and reports and have specific vision. This including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full-time for both Day and Night Shifts

Experience: Relevant: 1 year (Preferred)

Trailer Technician: 1 year (Preferred)

License: Motor Vehicle Inspection License (Preferred)

Current Virginia Driver's license

Current CDL (Preferred)

Vehicle Type: Trailers

Working Conditions:

The trailer technicians will work both indoors and out, moving about the shop and other departments to communicate with technicians, other management, leadership, salespeople and customers. Weekend, evening, and holiday hours may be required.

MEASUREMENT:

Performance standards for this position are met when:

1. Work orders are completed timely and efficiently.

2. Work order write downs are kept to a minimum.

3. Continued technical knowledge and training is completed.

4. The technician arrives to work on time and works as part of the team.
