SIUE is seeking qualified candidates to fill several part-time, Small Group Tutor positions within the Illinois Tutoring Initiative. High impact tutoring is effective at helping increase school outcomes for K-12 students. After a long period of online schooling, some kids in Central Illinois could really use your help and support. The Illinois Tutoring Initiative will assist tutors and their K-12 students through strong training for tutors, available resources and materials, and direct connections to district curriculum.

Areas for tutoring include K-8 reading, K-8 math, and 9-12 math. Tutors will be matched with a small group of K-12 students (1-3 students) in proximity, content area and age-level. Join the pool of tutors and we will get you matched with a student when available. Tutors from across the state will work in small groups of 1-3 students to tutor PK-12 students in Illinois. Selected candidates will be matched on a semester basis with PK-12 students by proximity, content area and age-level. Sessions may occur face-to-face or online; tutoring format (whether face-to-face or via online) will be up to the district and could switch during any semester (as districts open and close access to buildings based on a variety of factors). Tutors will work consistently with the same student(s) for the period of one semester for three (3) one hour-long sessions per week, they will also have 1.5 hours of planning time per week to prepare for tutoring sessions. Tutors will also be paid for required training and planning time as well as receive mileage reimbursement for any face-to-face tutoring sessions. The Illinois Tutoring Initiative is a two to three-year grant-funded project that will end after funding ceases.

1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. Passing grade in topic area of tutoring.
3. Transportation to and from tutoring sessions for in person sessions (could be hours away, depending on situation).
4. Previous experience working with PK-12 students.
5. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
6. Technology (iPad or laptop) for use in tutoring sessions and/or for submission of required paperwork.
