The Alliance and the School of Social Work have an outstanding opportunity for a Social Media and Communications Specialist to join their team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This role supports the Alliance’s efforts to share information about its organization and initiatives. It manages the social media channels, including finding content that audiences will respond to, and staying on top of trends and best practices on social platforms. This role also works to draft communications pieces and platforms including emails, website and texts. Major duties and responsibilities include:

Content Management (60%)
  • Maintain content databases and content calendars for social media platforms and email campaigns, and others as needed.
  • Create content for use across social media channels such as Facebook and Instagram with the goal of posting multiple times per week on each.
  • Partner with Alliance team members to ensure timely promotion of key initiatives.
  • Monitor content on external social media platforms and proactively comment on community partner pages.
  • Coordinate and draft mass email content.
  • Oversee and coordinate texting platform for use across the Alliance and CaRES.
  • Audit website content to ensure outdated content is removed or updated and make content edits as needed.
  • Create monthly report highlighting key metrics.

    Strategic Partnership (35%)
  • Research and define best practices for using platforms, around areas including but not limited to advertising, tagging, hashtags, content cadence.
  • Define opportunities to grow followers and audience engagement.
  • Analyze trends in audience behavior and apply learnings to content.
  • Maintain body of knowledge around accessibility best practices.
  • Create longer-term campaigns that focus on overarching objectives.

    Brand Management (5%)
  • Maintain library of branded templates and coordinate dissemination and training for use where needed.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • At least two years of related work experience.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Fluency in social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Proven ability to understand and speak to multiple audiences in a variety of media.
  • Understanding of AP Style.
  • Working across organization to identify communications needs.
  • Experience with CMS, preferably WordPress.
  • Experience with Facebook Suite.
  • Ability to communicate, receive feedback and follow through with projects and tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Note: equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirement.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience as a caregiver or familiarity with the child welfare system in Washington.
  • Video editing experience.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Graphic design experience.
  • Demonstrated curiosity around how to best connect with readers/users.
