Essential Functions
In collaboration with the UNO Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications team, creates and executes a cohesive social media content strategy to increase engagement with and grow the University’s social media audiences.

Work Schedule
M-F, 8-5

Additional Duties
Social Media Channel Management and Strategic Development:
  • Manage UNO official social media channels, including – but not limited to – the daily creation and curation of social media content in support of a cohesive social media engagement and growth strategy.
  • Manage UNO Chancellor social media channels, including – but not limited to – the daily creation and curation of social media content in support of a cohesive social media engagement and growth strategy.
  • Collaborate with MarComm team members and university partners to protect and enhance the university’s brand perception and reputation.
  • Consult and collaborate with UNO campus communicators to provide best practices guidance and refine social media strategies.
  • Promote, enforce, and update as needed the university-wide social media policy regarding regulations, best practices/strategy, and brand guidelines.
  • Assist the MarComm Marketing team in the strategic planning for and execution of marketing goals, objectives, and priorities, and assist the MarComm Events team in the strategic promotion and elevation of university priority events and engagement opportunities.
  • Assist the MarComm Events team in the strategic promotion and elevation of university priority events and engagement opportunities.
  • Create and maintain a UNO-affiliated social media inventory.
  • Regular social media analytics reporting and monitoring.
  • Manage the work schedule and assignments for one or more student interns.


Multimedia Content Creation and Storytelling:
  • Recruit and manage UNO student influencers.
  • Create original written and visual content to support Editorial and MarComm-wide storytelling and engagement priorities.


Other:
  • Participate in relevant university work groups or committees as needed.
  • Assist with University Communication team projects as needed.

Required Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree
Required Experience: Minimum of two years related experience.

Must possess prior experience in social media platform management, excellent copy writing and skills, editing skills appropriate for various social media channels, as well as an ability to guide university communicators as they develop and enhance their office, department, or college presence on social media platforms.
Must possess photo and video capture and editing skills appropriate for social media platforms, as well. Must have an understanding of brand guidance and compliance. Excellent oral communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to multitask, work independently, collaborate and execute strategies as part of a group, and make quick, responsible decisions. Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and work efficiently under pressure and deadlines. Works well in a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications. Ability to work within and collaborate through project management software. A general understanding of University policies and procedures.

Position requires strong problem solving and decision-making skills. Must be able to make independent decisions under general supervision.

Interaction with a wide variety of individuals including UNO staff, faculty and students. Frequent interaction and collaboration with University Communications staff. May have some interaction with the external public.

Position relied upon to create a natural cohesiveness for digital communications across the platforms of social media, internal communications, campus digital signage, and website content. Errors in communication, information and judgment could greatly impact the image and reputation of UNO and its administration among its constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience: Institutional knowledge and previous experience in a university setting.
