Overview:
The Social Services and Training Manager provides onboarding support and training to all social services staff, as well as technical assistance to Pathway of Hope teams and case managers. This role is pivotal in improving social service delivery through training and coaching throughout the Golden State Division.
Duties:
Divisional Pathway of Hope Coordinator
- Supervise the implementation of the Pathway of Hope (POH) Initiative at local units and provide support
- Collaborate with Divisional Social Services Director (DSSD) as needed to implement and support POH
- Facilitate monthly POH meetings
- Provide case consultation and technical assistance to case workers and interns, as requested
- Meet virtually or in-person with local social services staff and corps officers to provide support and information regarding community linkages and program requirements for the purpose of coaching and encouragement
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and training new social services staff or interns directly involved in providing POH services at the local level
- Oversee POH evaluation/outcomes measurement for cluster(s) of corps and submit a summary report to DSSD and Divisional Secretary for Program (DSP)
- Participate in POH planning and program development meetings at local sites and join conference calls with the Territorial Pathway of Hope Project Manager (TPOHPM), DSSD and DSP
- Collaborate with TPOHPM, DSSD and DSP and other organizations to refine the POH model and support kindred projects
- Plan, conduct and/or participate in workshops and other training events at the territorial, divisional and/or local level
Unit Social Services Support and Training
- Provide general support to the social service staff across the Golden State Division
- Provide support to local units for site training, including onboarding and training of new staff, case management training, and skill development
- Work with units to ensure proper data collection and statistical reporting in WellSky database
Qualifications:
- Must have an understanding and acceptance of The Salvation Army’s mission, philosophy and principles
- Must have a Master’s Degree in Social Work or in a related field
- Must have direct case management and supervisory experience
- Must have at least 5 years of experience in providing training in strengths-based case management, trauma informed care, motivational interviewing, crisis intervention, de-escalation strategies, and cultural competency.
- Must have a valid CA state driver’s license
- Must be able to attend meetings in person at Divisional Headquarters in San Francisco as needed
- Must be able to travel to units throughout the Golden State Division
- Must have excellent group facilitation and communication skills
- Must be computer literate, including database management software and basic office software (Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Be willing to learn additional programs and platforms as needed.
- Able to learn and master the functionalities of WellSky database
- Able to work independently
- Able to interact with people from diverse backgrounds
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to drive
