MY Project USA seeks professionals from diverse backgrounds, with a particular interest in those whose experiences match those of the people we serve in Columbus, Ohio, and surrounding communities.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
MY Project USA’s Social Worker is a licensed mental health professional that must be experienced in working with gun/gang violence survivors, substance abuse, bullying, harassment, domestic violence and other issues that inner-city youth may face in urban America. The majority of youth that MYPUSA works with come from immigrant and refugee backgrounds as well as from underserved communities of color. Trauma, depression and other mental health issues are prevalent in this demographic.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creating a system of mental health evaluation, treatment, and support for staff, volunteers, and clients in collaboration with the administration.
- Providing professional treatment/advice to all individuals in need of help.
- Build, coordinate, and plan programs and activities to meet youth and families' social and emotional needs,
- Provide appropriate treatment or referrals to all team members and clients at the time of emergencies.
- Making yourself available to youth and families whenever they are in need.
- Providing a reliable presence in the life of youth who may feel otherwise abandoned.
- Educating youth about social issues like substance abuse and domestic violence.
- Providing mental health support for youth suffering from trauma, depression, and other mental health issues.
- Training staff and volunteers about mental health issues and how to help people suffering.
- Building a team of trained volunteers to help youth at risk.
- Organizing community events and training in partnership with other agencies to raise awareness about mental health issues.
- Creating a culture of mental health is a top priority for all within the organization.
- Contact the authorities if suspecting that the youth is at risk in their home.
- Maintaining the confidential data of all clients served
- Working with grant writers to conduct surveys and provide data for grant purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum four (4) year degree in an accredited college or university in social work
- Must have a current License for Social Work (LSW) in the State of Ohio
- One (1) year of experience in the field of social work and experience working with children and families.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, required.
- Employee must be able to effectively work with and be respectful and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $67,000.00 per year
