JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW

The Software Engineer II is responsible for the design, development and release of our organization's web-based applications. Duties include application development and systems integration, spanning front-end, middle tier, and data access components. The company is in the midst of a significant program to revise its core web-based business services delivery automation systems, migrating to a modern, open source technology stack. The Software Engineer collaborates with the Manager/Director of Development for strategic projects and works closely with program management to ensure successful operational deployment of new applications, while maintaining business continuity of existing applications. This is a hands-on technical role, providing the opportunity for distributed systems integration and development; using modern open source technologies to build out an innovative Human Resources, Payroll, and Benefits services delivery platform.

As a Software Engineer you will work as part of a team building new applications written in Java, Spring, Hibernate, Javascript, React-Native with Redux, and RESTful services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides hands-on contributions to architecture, design and code development for critical components of the company’s next-generation client-facing applications, for “always-on” SaaS production services
  • Works closely with product Owners and other partners to develop project plans, and participates in resource planning
  • Use Agile methodology and project management software to collaborate with geographically diverse scrum teams
  • Develops, evaluates, and implements improved processes, methods and tools to continually improve software delivery effectiveness.
  • Be able to quickly learn new technologies to support existing products as well as products on the strategic road map
  • Demonstrated success working independently and collaborating with others

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.

Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):

Experience:

  • Java: 5+ years’ experience developing and maintaining projects using
  • JavaScript development. ES6 preferred
  • JavaScript
  • Java
  • HTML5, CSS, JSON
  • Angular 1 or 5 or React experience (or any other popular modern UI framework)
  • Strong experience in developing highly-reusable UI components.
  • Strong experience with end-to-end UI/API integration and working with JSON.
  • Familiarity with best coding practices and UI architectures (MVC vs Flux).
  • Ability to work with UX designers to implement intuitive and pixel-perfect UIs.
  • Familiarity with at least one UI Data caching implementation (Redux preferred)
  • Most recently should have worked on projects with either Angular or React.
  • Experience with designing and developing UI for performance and capacity of web-based, multi-tenant, Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions

  • Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies and methodologies

  • Understanding of source code management tools such as JIRA, Stash and the workflows associated with them (branching and merging)
  • Unit/Integration/E2E Testing experience.
  • UX design skills and experience with Photoshop/Sketch a huge plus
  • Understanding of Agile practices such as test-driven development and continuous integration.
  • Human Resources, Payroll, and/or Benefits business domain experience a plus
