Summary:

The Software Engineer I is responsible for updating configuration data and supporting the design of assigned projects and checking hardware and toolsets. They will participate in maintenance and/or troubleshooting activities including testing, reviewing and analyzing processes of familiar toolsets and engine software packages. Additionally, they will ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, to specifications and without compromise to Safran Test Cells' quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the ongoing development of Safran Test Cells' data acquisition and control application while providing ongoing feedback to management on deliverables.
  • Develop and review documentation ensuring they meet company quality standards.
  • Completing assigned tasks with supervision and in accordance with schedule and budget requirements.
  • Actively participate in design reviews making recommendations as needed.
  • Participate in peer code review and testing.
  • Provide timely and complete information to the QA group to facilitate formal testing on toolsets.
  • Acquire ongoing knowledge necessary to perform job assignments and to improve technology, products and processes.
  • Actively participate in a continuous improvement culture providing recommendations and implementing enhancements to current methods and procedures.

Job requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field required.
  • Structured programming background with 0 to 2 years of software design experience (at least academic experience required) in one or more of the following programming languages: C/C++, C#, or other related languages required.
  • Integrated Development Experience is required.
  • Experience working with LAN based instrumentation including writing drivers for LAN based devices utilizing TCP/IP or UDP/IP preferred.
  • Experience with web technologies including .NET, XML, and HTML preferred; exposure to web technologies in school is preferred.
  • Experience writing multi-threaded software preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of Windows, Linux operating systems and database is required (and SQL is preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of Internet/Web technology and client/server technology in regard to application development.
  • Must demonstrate communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively and asking questions where clarification is needed.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; actively seeks opportunities to improve quality and monitors own work to ensure quality is met.
  • Self-motivated, organized, able to multi-task, prioritize and excel in a fast-paced environment.
