As a member of the agile software development team, you will contribute to the success of WSECU by partnering with our business to create and extend the capabilities for our mission-critical core banking and digital systems. You will analyze, design, develop, integrate, document, and support the credit union’s core and digital solutions. As a software engineer, you should possess a high degree of technical acumen, strong communication skills, and experience working with various stakeholders to deliver business value by creating timely and effective software solutions.

Your day might include:
  • Working as a high performer in a cross-functional software development team
  • Leveraging a strong technical background with complimentary soft people skills
  • Partnering with software developers and other IT technical members, business leaders, and subject matter experts to design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions in support of the core banking and ancillary systems
  • Developing enterprise solutions that require the full-stack front-end (UI) to back-end (Services & Database) knowledge of legacy and modern technology frameworks and languages
  • Collaborating closely with core banking development team to learn our banking platform and credit union business
  • Seeking out opportunities to leverage existing platforms and determine when custom solution development or integration is needed
  • Creating and enhancing operational efficiency by developing software solutions to automate manual processes
  • Troubleshooting, debugging, and diagnosing complex software problems
  • Supporting web and application servers (IIS, Apache, Tomcat)
  • Ideating, consulting, and recommending custom or COTS software solutions
  • Collaborating with Quality Assurance to ensure quality is embedded from design to validation
  • Facilitating user acceptance testing with business customers
  • Team player within an agile software development team
What you bring to the team:
  • Intermediate level of programing language comprehension, math and reasoning skills
  • Strong coding abilities in at least one of the following languages PowerOn, Java, or C#
  • Solid command web development stack using (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Angular, Vue.js, TypeScript)
  • Solid command of web services and integration development (WebAPI or Spring, REST, SOAP, XML, JSON, OpenAPI)
  • Solid understanding and application of design patterns and software architectures
  • Solid command of software development lifecycle best practices (Source Control, Unit Testing, CI\CD)
  • Understanding and experience in software development methodologies and project management processes (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc). and when to use them
  • Experience and knowledge supporting web and application services (IIS, Apache, Tomcat)
  • Good understanding and application of hierarchical and/or relational database development (MSSQL and/or Episys)
  • Strong understanding and application of full stack software development (UI to Database)
  • Solid experience in software development and support tools (Visual Studio, IntelliJ, AzureDevOps)
For SE II:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Computer Science or a closely related field is preferred
  • Minimum of Three (3) years’ progressive experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code using industry standard tools, and practices
For SE III:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Computer Science, or related field, or related experience may be substituted, year for year, for academic achievement
  • Minimum of Five (5) years’ experience, including financial technologies
  • WSECU is currently hiring a SE II or SE III depending on qualifications
Bonus Points if you have:
  • Minimum of Five (3) years’ development experience using Java or C#, including financial technologies
  • Credit union or financial services experience
  • Development experience in core banking (Symitar PowerOn Programming)
  • Agile software development experience, preferably Scrum
  • Experience developing services using the microservices and container architecture
  • Experience with NoSQL (i.e., MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.) and API management solutions
  • Experience developing with cloud services (Azure or AWS)
Competitive Pay for SE II Level: $78,693.28 - $118,039.92 annually, Dependent on application qualifications plus an annual discretionary incentive plan

Competitive Pay for SE III Level: $91,582.08 - $137.373.12 annually, Dependent on application qualifications plus an annual discretionary incentive plan

Position Location: 330 Union Ave, Olympia WA. Employee must reside and perform all work in the state of Washington. This is a work from home/hybrid position with the exception of occasional on-site training, meetings and specific organization events.

When you’d work: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm, with scheduling flexibility required for this full-time, exempt position
