SGSS seeks a full-time, early-to-mid career Systems Engineer to help shape and deliver US Naval Research Lab ground-to-space antenna services in a dynamic development, security, and cross-service environment. The systems engineer will aid in developing, maturing, providing quality control and supporting program management in developing and operating through system interfaces, automated test, and collaboration with other technical stakeholders. The SE will own the maturation of several core technical specifications, aid in ensuring implementation quality against those specifications, and working with external stakeholders to improve these specifications. The systems engineer will work closely with NRL personnel, as well as leadership from other contractor and external government partner organizations to shape and evolve NRL participation in the overall domain.

The successful candidate will bring some experience in engineering within small, agile, software-intensive projects, and relevant technical experience in Aerospace, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Develop and manage automated documentation, test, and verification of software and hardware specifications. These specifications include XML and JSON schema, low-level network/transport, L2/L3 IP networking, VPN connections. They also include workflow, business logic, and human/machine interface standards and specifications.
Assist in setting up automated quality assurance through software test, human/manual test development, and other quality assurance activities.
Work cooperatively with other enterprise stakeholder representatives for improvements, deficiency management, training and documentation.
Address security and classification constraints within interface specifications, and manage specifications with elements held at various levels of classification and housed on disconnected systems.
Aid in end-to-end systems engineering to manage dependencies, risk, and schedule factors to integrate and test large systems-of-systems.
Serve as a qualified communications hub in a classified facility
Schedule and coordinate technical staff travel and communications
Maintain schedule and prioritized backlogs for various technical teams
Required Skills and Qualifications
Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study
A minimum of three (3) years of related experience in a technical field, with software, computer science, or ground systems preferred
Demonstrated history of teamwork and service skills
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Background in software engineering
Background in space/ground C2 and communication systems, equipment, and operations
Exposure to cloud-native service development
Program Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
Knowledge of Defense Space and/or Intelligence Community
