DEPARTMENT: Solid Waste & Recycling
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, developing and managing the operations, initiatives, programs, and projects of the Solid Waste & Recycling Department in support of the Tulalip’s environmental goals and objectives. Oversees contracts for service, cleanup efforts of all types of illegal dumping and litter, public education and outreach and other programs to reduce solid waste generation. Supervises Solid Waste & Recycling staff in all aspects of work, scheduling, and employee performance. Represents the Tulalip Public Works in tribal, regional and local solid waste planning and management processes as assigned. This is a working coordinator position and will split time between the office and field operations. Will drive CDL vehicle when necessary to covers route pickups for elders, housing and tribal government, and container pick up and drop off. Operates heavy equipment when needed to demolish buildings and clean up garbage sites.
COMPENSATION:
$33.27 hr.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE
- Three (3) years’ experience operating heavy equipment.
- Three (3) years’ experience driving as a CDL driver.
- Three (2) years’ experience with municipal solid waste operations, programs, litter control and recycling.
- One (1) year experience of computer experience utilizing Microsoft Office programs.
- One (1) year experience with supervisory responsibilities, developing and building teams.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
- WA State Driver’s License
- Class A CDL
- Must adhere to the Motor Vehicle Regulations (Abstract Required)
- APWA Managing Integrated Solid Waste Management Systems. *Will allow six (6) months from start date to obtain.
- Must complete an Agility exam to determine if physically capable of performing job duties.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a regular Full-Time position.
