Position Description:

The Somali Community Outreach Coordinator will work closely with Sylvan Learning Enrollment Coordinator to engage different communities in target areas. This person will be responsible for assisting in sales and marketing preparation, as well as coordinating and scheduling programs with community partners and organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinating:

• Schedule and run programs with community partners
• Oversee yearly calendar
• Coordinate training sessions with Sylvan staff to assist in communicating with communities
• Set priorities for culture-specific programming
• Build relationships and partnerships with local schools to generate contract sales to support the Sylvan centers with increased revenue and students.

Outreach & Communications:

• Assist sales and marketing teams with Somali based marketing materials
• Outreach to communities to gauge service need
• Network with industry experts and potential community partners
• Working with Sylvan team as they interact with potential families during sales process

Qualifications:

• Organized, detailed oriented and ability to complete all task
• Willingness to travel across Twin Cities and Central Minnesota with for events, meetings, support, and/or training
• Outgoing personality with exceptional communication skills and comfortable making connections with local businesses and schools in our community.
• In-depth knowledge of the Somali traditions and culture
• Independently Motivated/ Able to work independently
• Proficiency in Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and creative skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Somali Culture
• Fluent in Somali
• Flexibility between 9AM and 8PM

Position Details:

This is a paid, part-time position. (Full-Time for the right candidate) The candidate is expected to work 25 to 40 hours a week, $/hr. starting wage for initial on-boarding and training. Weekly schedule can be negotiated upon hire and may be flexible, but some nights and weekends will be included for attendance at local events.
