Job Title: Head Administrator
Compensation and Benefits: • $115,200 - $150,000 (To be determined based on qualifications and experience) • 20 days paid vacation per calendar year • Full Benefits

Description: Southwest Secondary Learning Center (SSLC), a state-authorized public charter school serving grades 9-12 in Northeast Albuquerque is seeking a Head Administrator. SSLC provides a hybrid learning environment offering both in person and online coursework. The school is also renowned for offering its innovative Smart Lab course focused on STEAM learning through fun and engaging project work. Student teams from SSLC have won the New Mexico Governor’s STEM Challenge multiple times by developing technical solutions that address real-world problems. SSLC is also known for its robust dual-enrollment program with 78% of 2022 seniors participating and earning a total of 652 college credit hours at Central New Mexico Community College and the University of New Mexico. We desire a Head Administrator who can serve as the leader of SSLC by implementing the school’s educational programs and working to increase student enrollment. The Head Administrator will be expected to think strategically about how the school can best fulfill the terms of its charter contract which requires a focus on student outcomes, and, thereby, provide an excellent school choice for our community. A successful applicant will be familiar or can become familiar with the uniqueness of public education in New Mexico and our local community and how best to administer a school and engage students in our culturally diverse environment.

The Head Administrator is the sole employee of the SSLC Governing Council and as such, is responsible for hiring all educational and support staff. To assist with implementation of day-today school operation and other responsibilities, the Head Administrator will be expected to employ, manage and retain a well-qualified staff to guarantee excellent results for our students. The Governing Council will work together with the Head Administrator to ensure the school’s budget includes sufficient resources to implement school programs and to advance SSLC’s strategic vision. The Head Administrator will be expected to work cooperatively with the Governing Council and to provide leadership in matters related to SSLC’s operations, finances, and educational programs. The Head Administrator will regularly advise, inform, and report to the Governing Council about the School’s ongoing business. The Head Administrator will also be the school’s representative to the Public Education Commission and Public Education Department. As the leader of the school, the Head Administrator will be expected to act professionally and with integrity at all times when dealing with students, teachers, support staff, parents, community members, and the Governing Council. The Head Administrator will be expected to solicit input from staff and others when appropriate, delegate responsibilities and maintain appropriate oversight, and act decisively to achieve the best outcome for all students. The Head Administrator will also be expected to communicate and manage staff effectively and encourage collaboration and a team atmosphere to achieve overall goals. A successful applicant will demonstrate how they meet the required and desired qualifications, as well as effectively communicate their vision for the school to the hiring committee and the Governing Council.

Required Qualifications: • 5+ years of leadership experience in education or private sector • 5+ years of experience in education • Master’s degree in education or another relevant field • Holds or has the ability to obtain a New Mexico 3-B Administrator License before commencing employment • A commitment to acting with integrity in all dealings as the SSLC Head Administrator, which will include interactions with students, parents, teachers, support staff, community members, Governing Council members, the New Mexico Public Education Commission, and the New Mexico Public Education Department • Ability to think strategically and implement vision • Ability to employ and hire a team of teachers and support staff • Understanding of public school budgets and finances • Experience implementing special education programs and their corresponding state and federal statutes
