Akron Preparatory School is seeking a full-time Intervention Specialist for our K-8 campus. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field. Under the direction of the principal, the teacher will maintain a rigorous program for our students with special needs. The ideal candidate will possess the qualities needed to create a class environment that engenders rigorous learning and academic growth for all students. Belief and alignment with our mission that all students are college-bound are a must.

We are seeking a teacher who will "sweat the small stuff" and have a "no excuses" attitude in order to continue to close the achievement gap. Akron Preparatory School teachers must possess a philosophy that 100% of our students will attend and graduate from a four year college and/or university.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Use assessment data to refine and inform curricular and instructional practices
  • Differentiate accordingly for the individual needs of students assigned to caseload
  • Maintain organization and ensure 100% compliance with tasks and deadlines
  • Participate in Professional Development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Remain highly organized and meet deadlines 100% of the time
  • Create intentional lesson plans that support academic rigor and student engagement

Prerequisites

  • Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
  • Mastery of and enthusiasm for academic subjects
  • Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player
  • Teaching experience in an urban setting preferred, but not required
  • Valid State Certification is required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year

  • Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Special education: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:
