Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an approved education program in subject area.
- MI Teaching License or have qualifications to obtain a MI teaching license.
- Strong background in Michigan Course of Study/Common Core and Essential Standards.
- Regular attendance
- Report to work on time
- Adhere to state, county, school laws, rules and regulations
- Adhere to Code of Ethics for MI Educators
- Follow appropriate communication channels with students, parents, school and community
The Special Education Teacher will work in a team environment in partnership with general and special education teachers and paraprofessionals in all school settings. The teacher is responsible for supporting student achievement in the areas of Mathematics and Reading with special attention to Tier II and Tier III evidence-based interventions. They will also provide academic, social/emotional, and behavioral supports to students, differentiated based on individual need. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach district approved curriculum, and provide evidence of student mastery of instructional content
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
- Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provide individualized and small group instruction
- Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
- Establish and maintain standard of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
- Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports
- Identify pupil needs and make appropriate referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans
- Available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day
- Create an environment for learning through interactive and attractive displays, centers and exhibits of student’s work.
- Participate in professional develop activities both in-district as well as outside to enhance instructional effectiveness
- Participate actively in PLC
- Record student attendance daily
- On site presence is required
- Performs other related duties as assigned

- Onsite, W2 contracting position, Full school year
- Caseload: ASD or CI Classroom
