  • Provides observations, training, coaching, technical assistance and consultation to early childhood professionals in multiple counties.
  • Supports Utah Department of Workforce Services, Utah Office of Child Care and Care About Childcare by assisting child care providers with the requirements of the Child Care Quality System (CCQS).
Summary of Responsibilities

  • Implements the coaching and observation as required by Office of Child Care grant. Programs served will be throughout the state of Utah. Must maintain 85% reliability on required ERS observation tools. Attend required meetings and trainings.
  • Demonstrates compliance with contract requirements which includes achieving and maintaining at least 85% reliability on the ERS observation tools. Complete tasks and trainings assigned by OCC or UVU.
  • Teaches career ladder classes for OCC or CAC-UVU agency as needed. If requested, present at early childhood conferences. Serves as a resource for the Office of Child Care and the local CAC office which can include teaching courses, attending meetings, community events, preparing for professional partners conference and various office duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an regionally accredited institution with an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field, or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, plus one year of experience working in a child care setting or other early childhood education setting OR any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling three years, one of which in a child care setting or other early childhood education setting.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

In depth knowledge of child development across all ages from birth to school age. Advanced knowledge of early childhood best practices as related to the daily operation of an early childhood program with an emphasis on licesend family childcare programs. Knowledge of current best practices and research in the early childhood field.- Basic computer skills that require the generating of reports for Office of Child Care and Care About Childcare. Writing skills necessary to generate a clear and distinct report of coaching and observations. Communication skills to provide professional feedback to early childhood programs. Skills in effective and clear communication. Keen observation and documentation skills. Detail oriented. Good writing skills. Impeccable paperwork, tracking, and record keeping skills.- Ability to build relationships with early childhood caregivers and to motivate the caregivers to make changes in their child care program that will improve the quality of the program based on researched early childhood best practices. Ability to build relationships with adults. Ability to plan ahead and prioritize tasks efficiently.
