NSWCPD Department 40 works to ensure adherence to the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process for its Propulsion, Power, & Auxiliary Machinery systems and subsystems which includes development of technical documents across multiple platforms including configuration management, milestone/issue tracking, and RMF documentation.

Assess & Authorize (A&A) and Assess Only (AO) Support – Cybersecurity support consists of development and validation of A&A and AO packages and artifacts; implementation of security postures regarding cybersecurity life cycle management. The intended result is obtaining and renewing Authorization to Operate (ATO).
Risk Management Framework (RMF) Continuous Monitoring Support – All RMF activities shall follow the most current applicable documents including: Department of the Navy (DON) RMF Process Guide, DoD Instruction 8510.01, and the business rules of cognizant review offices for each package. Contractor shall produce and maintain RMF artifacts related to the authorization or de-authorization of assigned RMF packages, applications, and systems under the cognizance of NSWCPD. The intended result is obtaining or maintaining ATO or De-Authorization to Operate (DATO) through validated test results, security controls assessor review, and authorization official endorsement as part of the continuous monitoring process.
Computer System Administration & Configuration Support - Apply system configuration changes and software application updates (patches) as required by automated security assessment tools. Consider Operational Mission Requirements when applying system configuration changes and work with system owner(s) to develop and execute plans and procedures to secure the system against cybersecurity threats to the greatest extent possible while providing continuous capability to conduct mission requirements. Develop and enhance Operating Procedures, Process Guides, User Agreements, and system-level RMF Control Family Plans and Procedures specific to operating system configuration settings and capabilities.
