POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the assigned Program Director and in accordance with the Christian mission and purpose of the Great Miami Valley (GMV) YMCA Association, the Sports Coordinator is responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing high quality youth sports programming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Develops, coordinates, implements, and manages all aspects of assigned program.
  • Maintains budget and tracks expenditures and transactions related to the program.
  • Maintains communication with staff and program participants.
  • Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
  • Assures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensures that program and membership standards are met and safety procedures are followed. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Models relationship-building in all interactions.
  • Schedules, attends, and facilitates, as needed, all required trainings, in-services, and branch and association meetings.
  • Maintains all program equipment, including proper usage and storage of any program materials.
  • Supports all branch and association-wide membership retention and engagement initiatives including annual campaign efforts.
  • Assists with program activities as needed.
OTHER FUNCTIONS: SPORTS COORDINATOR
  • Expands sports program within the community. Develop and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices.
  • Monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of sports program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
  • Organizes and conducts sports clinics, as necessary to assist in both staff and volunteer training and development.
  • Organizes and hosts season parties and events, promoting healthy eating and good nutrition.
  • Purchases and distributes team uniforms and awards. Coordinates and distributes team photographs.

QUALIFICATIONS (ALSO CALLED ENTRY REQUIREMENTS OR KNOW HOW):
  • Education: High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Two or more years of related experience preferred.
  • Must have willingness to complete any necessary YMCA program-specific certifications.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must possess excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to use typical business software and office equipment.
  • Must be available to work some evenings and weekends.
  • At least 18 years of age.

  • The incumbent must be able to frequently sit, use his/her hands and fingers, stand, walk, type, reach, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb a ladder, and climb a minimum of two flights of stairs multiple times each day. The incumbent must be able to lift and/or carry and move up to fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities require close, color, distance, peripheral, depth, perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The incumbent will be required to travel to many locations in the Association’s service area and will be exposed to all outside weather conditions.
Starting Pay: $14.25 per hour
