The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is seeking a Sports Director for its branch in Waxahachie, TX who will plan, organize, promote, implement and evaluate the programs under his/her supervision.

The Sports Director will take a leadership role with all of the recreational youth sports programs, sports camps, and youth skills clinics and will evaluate the program needs of members and the community; initiate new programs in harmony with the Association's goals, and make appropriate recommendations and changes. He/she will recruit, train, supervise, evaluate and recognize part-time staff and program volunteers within accordance of policies set by the Association and will keep accurate records essential for the control, evaluation, and reporting of programs to committees, the Board of Management, and the Regional Sports Director. This position will work with the other Directors on scheduling programs for maximum use of the facilities and will share in the responsibility of cleanliness, maintenance and safety of equipment and facilities. He/she will secure use of outside facilities and fields to allow for continuation and expansion of present programs, will develop the annual program budget and manage it as approved, and will oversee maintenance of equipment and inventory control of program supplies.


The Sports Director will develop and maintain timely and accurate information for Association brochures as will as additional promotional materials for all sports programs as needed. He/she will participate in association-wide activities, as requested and assigned by the Regional Sports Director. and will serve as ambassador for the YMCA, establishing and maintaining cordial relationships and collaborations with other agencies and community groups. This person will represent the YMCA at community events and on councils as directed and will participate on staff committees as assigned. He/she will attend staff meetings and trainings as required and will assure that all staff under the incumbents' supervision in the Sports Department understand and comply with all personnel and other policies established by the Board of Management and professional staff. As a member of the professional staff, he/she will share responsibility for the administration of the overall branch and will support branch Annual Campaign as assigned. He/she will perform other job-related duties as requested and necessary.

The Sports Director should have good interpersonal skills and a cordial manner. Must be able to work with members, volunteers, staff and vendors. Candidates must have experience in Physical Education, Recreation, or related field. Strong or general knowledge of soccer, baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, and other sports. Must have an understanding of the management of facilities, equipment, and programs. Currently hold or obtain Trainer certification for CPR and First Aid. Currently hold or obtain all trainings and certifications required by YMCA guidelines for this position. Current driver's license with acceptable record and vehicle liability insurance. High school diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Physically able to move freely throughout the facility and other program sites and the ability to lift 50 pounds. The incumbent is frequently required to stand and walk. Must have visual, hearing and physical dexterity to substitute as a sports referee. Must be able to speak clearly and articulate accurate information. The incumbent will be required to work evenings and weekends.

Pay Range: $45,000 if annualized
