PART TIME AND FULL TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE

As a Maintenance Tech you will be responsible for all building, pool and grounds maintenance of a new 130 room Springhill Suites hotel adjacent to Carowinds Amusement Park. You will also be responsible for safety and security within the building and grounds all while ensuring the guest are well cared for and have a memorable stay experience while visiting the Carolinas!

• Have a warm and welcoming personality that can engage with guest and genuinely provide exceptional guest service and perform service recovery when needed.
• Perform routine troubleshooting for in-room issues and accommodate guest request
• Conduct daily property walk-through and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure(s) of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment. Arrange plans for repairs of issues discovered
• Adhere to Marriott’s guest room preventative maintenance program and requirements
• Completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting room, kitchen and bar, back of the house spaces, and grounds. Completion of necessary repairs, replacement, and renovation projects to offices and employee work areas.
• Adhere to all company and brand-required purchasing policies and controls, run errands as needed, driving vehicle to drop off and pick up supplies, equipment and furnishings.
• Follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and OSHA.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment
• Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs and conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel.
• Assist Maintenance Manager in contacting vendors and contractors for repairs/maintenance of the hotel and equipment.
• Take equipment readings and samples to ensure all systems are operating correctly. Take action to repair issues discovered.
• Maintain proper fire and life safety practices and documentation according to brand standard
• Manage preventative maintenance program in partnership with Housekeeping department
• Perform general repairs and maintenance as required.
• Assist in other departments as needed
• Communicate and foster good working relationship with park maintenance team who will serve as support in major repairs.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 2 years of building maintenance in the hotel or property management field required
• Previous hotel experience preferred, previous Marriott experience a plus
• Requires advance knowledge of maintenance practices relative to building maintenance including plumbing, refrigeration, boilers, mechanical, HVAC, paint, lighting, carpentry to complete repair work
• Must have good people skills and spirit to serve
• Must have strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to perform physical and repetitious tasks including pushing, pulling, lifting and gripping, climb ladders, use maintenance equipment and tools
• Able to work early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays, indoors and outdoors
• Have good verbal and written communication skills to present technical information
• Ability to multitask in fast paced environment
• Have independent problem solving skills and sense of urgency
• Ability to handle guest request and complaints
• Ability to remain calm during emotionally charged situations
