ABOUT THE JOB

Hawkins is looking for a Senior Development Engineer to join our Technical Services team. This individual will have chemical experience and will be tasked with formulating new products in support of sales across all reporting groups. This individual will support existing business and the entrance into new markets.

Responsibilities

• Partner with sales, operations, and engineering staff on new product/process design, testing, and production scale-up.
• Drive new product development based on input from sales and provide a cost/benefit analysis to determine feasibility.
• Evaluate products and processes for potential risk to Hawkins, creating and implementing action plans to mitigate or eliminate identified risks.
• Provide training and work direction for lab technicians.
• Formulate products and generate product documentation, including work instructions, manufacturing specs, product specs, testing procedures, certificate of analysis, and other documentation as needed.
• Evaluate the Technical Development Request (TDR) process and look for potential improvements.
• Provide technical support for all Hawkins Reporting Groups.

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor of Science in chemistry or chemical engineering required
• Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a chemical formulation/processing environment
• Prior experience with product formulation required
• Strong understanding of chemicals and manufacturing processes
• Active listening, problem solving, and relationship skills
• Ability to work independently
• Sales and/or Marketing experience a plus
• Familiarity with various production/laboratory instrumentation – trouble shooting, training, start up, validation, maintenance – including HPLC, ICP-OES, pH-conductivity, spectrophotometers, and auto-titration systems
• Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
